The Dead Of 2015

Recommended Posts

Wikipedia isn't a news source my Guest friends. I applaud your efforts, and have had to resort to Wiki a couple times myself, but try chasing down an obit. Usually the Wiki entry has a source and a link can be found there.

SirC

PS also look for a proper category to toss the dead into if you can. I know not everyone is aware of all 70 of them not even me, but Hollywood and TV personalities are always posted vs maybe a chamber music composer.

here you go http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/27/arts/television/peg-lynch-writer-and-star-of-early-situation-comedy-dies-at-98.html?ref=obituaries&_r=0

Britain's 29th richest man, Chris Lazari, is unable to take it with him aged 69. A high school dropout who came to the UK aged 16 with just £20 to his name, he washed dishes for years to earn enough money to study fashion and eventually set up a London-based property empire including the Brunswick Shopping Centre.

And if you believe that "rags to riches pull your socks up" bullshit story of his success, I have a bridge to sell you. In West London.

Straight man starts out in fashion and ends up a multi-millionaire isnt that more like "fags to bitches"?

Long lost British star from the 1950s who was a favourite of Hitchcock Nova Pilbeam has died at 95 http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/nova-pilbeam-alfred-hitchcocks-star-who-vanished-from-view-10402905.html

I'm sure there was a topic for Desert Island Discs but alas, I can't bloody find it.

Anyway, Pilbeam was the LAST living person to have appeared as a guest on the show during the 1940s.

There are 22 people still alive who appeared on the show during the 1950s:

Petula Clark / b. 1932

Sally Ann Howes / b. 1930

Vera Lynn / b. 1917

Sheila Sim / b. 1922

Peggy Cummins / b. 1925

Tony Mottram / b. 1920

Edward Allcard / b. 1914

Claire Bloom / b. 1931

Stirling Moss / b. 1929

Leslie Caron / b. 1931

Shirley Abicair / b. 1930

Janette Scott / b. 1938

Tommy Steele / b. 1936

David Attenborough / b. 1926

Beryl Grey / b. 1927

Cleo Laine / b. 1927

Harry Belafonte / b. 1927

Elizabeth Seal / b. 1933

June Paul / b. 1934

Chris Barber / b. 1930

Judy Grinham / b. 1939

Sylvia Syms / b. 1934

So, what, we pick eight we'd really like to see dead and then have to pick one of those we'd really really like to see dead?

Oh, alright then, Petula Clark

Book: Tourist Guide to Maryport

Incredibly moving tribute of 1700 pupils for a popular teacher. Dawson Tamatea died in his sleep at 55. He teaches for 30 years at the Palmerton North Boys ' high School, New Zealand. Before entering the funeral parlor, the students performed a traditional Haka.

Hmm, Jimmy Savile hung around with kids and had a very ceremonial funeral, right?

Harry Pitch, harmonica player, 91. http://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/News/Areas/Maidenhead/Harmonica-star-Harry-Pitch-who-played-on-the-Last-of-the-Summer-Wine-theme-tune-and-Groovin-With-Mr-Bloe-dies-aged-91-29072015.htm

Played on Val Doonican's Walk Tall and Frank Ifield's I Remember You. But possibly iconic for playing on the theme tune to Last Of The Summer Wine.

Classic 'Nobody".

Wikipedia has a little more:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antony_Holland

I guess his association with Laurence Olivier is the most important bit.

He worked in a theatre which Laurence Olivier cut the ribbon on. I've shopped in a Sainsbury's opened by Sean Bean does that mean I'll get a posting when i shuffle off this mortal coil.

Natalia Molchanova, the world's greatest freediver, is feared dead:

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/aug/04/free-diver-natalia-molchanova-feared-dead

I guess, technically, it should have gone into the "missing" thread, but realistically not.

If she's found alive now we can safely say she'll smash several of her own world records!
