How about Grace Slick?

76 next year, a breenge of drugs taken over decades, and unable to stand for more than a few minutes at a time.

Not a bad choice.

Why isn't no one mentioning George Martin (Beatles producer)? He's pretty old and pretty high-profile...

Every once in a while I check on him, but he seems to be doing ok.

I would also consider for 2016...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desmond_Morris- 87 year old writer of books about biology, humans, etc, and producer of TV shows based on these books, such as The Human Animal which was shown on British TV in the 90s. Quite a well known individual within his field

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_Dudley-Smith- 88 year old hymnwriter - obituary/notability may be a problem though

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burt_Kwouk- 85 year old actor, "Kato" from the Pink Panther films

That's all for now, if I think of any more later I'll post them

I think Timothy Dudley-Smith will obit. He wrote Tell Out My Soul and will certainly get a mention in the broadsheets and a slot on Last Word. Just don't expect it to feature on Richard Dawkins twitter account

Co-incidentally catching up on this thread and listening to Crystal Jacqueline's powerful cover of Somebody to Love. Aye, Ms Slick doubtless has some mileage on her frame. Good call to keep her in sight.

Louis Stokes, first black congressman from Ohio and Civil Rights fighter, has lung and brain cancer. Also, he's 90 years old:

http://www.cleveland.com/naymik/index.ssf/2015/07/louis_stokes_diagnosed_with_lu.html

So a gimme for any Rotten Dead Pool teams that start up in the next couple months, but too many factors against him for a likely appearance on any pools with a January starting date.

You're probably right. Sounds more like 2-3 months left instead of the 5 months that the year has left. But then he receives congressional health care and your own team expires in the first half of December already. But if he makes it that far, and the year is already more than half over (feels somewhat scary to me this time...), he's a definite hit for all pools except the DDP, where the question of obitability arises.

DDT posted about Bob Ellis and I accidentally searched Bob Elliott, and much to my surprise discovered that that is the name of the guy from the old Bob & Ray comedy team, and he's 92! (b. 3/1923)

Just some food for thought

If you were going for a Star Trek death then I think Walter Koenig would be the best bet. (Hope not though)

I hope for the sake of it that it is true

I think there are a fair few fit and active people in their nineties who still do stuff and it's something of a lottery trying to score points with them. For exampe, Ken Nordine is older than Glen, he's UK obitable in the broadsheets for sure. Still working as a radio host last I heard. Hard to call these ones, but that's the boundless joy of dead pooling eh?

http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/really-liam-neeson-star-spotted-6149683 :Liam Neeson has been pictured looking very gaunt.Anyone know if it`s for a role or whether there is something else going on?

I guess it's full-blown AIDS. He's probably riddled with it.

New York Times bestselling true crime writer Ann Rule, 84, has been ripped off by her sons. She's in declining health since 2013, can't perform tasks of daily life without assistance, is on oxygen at all times, and has periods of extreme confusion:

Boo, another one gone.

And the Daily Mail has found the most eye-catching angle:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3176809/Ted-Bundy-s-famed-worker-turned-biographer-Ann-Rule-dies-aged-83.html

Well, I didn't even include her in my Rotten Deadpool team even though I had the chance. I need to give lung problems a higher priority.

Another candidate from the world fo Cricket:

http://www.10tv.com/content/stories/apexchange/2015/03/17/cri--south-africa-rice.html

Former South African Captain Clive Rice has a procedure on a brain tumor. Initially, they thought it was inoperable and he was about to die, now they try to defeat it with lasers.

Initially, they thought it was inoperable and he was about to die, now I still think it's inoperable and he's going to die, but first they will milk a small fortune from him for an experimental procedure of dubious value.

He will be a great candidate in 2016 if he makes the startline.

And another one gone:

http://www.sport24.co.za/Cricket/Clive-Rice-dies-20150728

GossibGabe was probably right about the "dubious value". And I followed the case for a while. He said it was a "miracle surgery", but in hindsight, it seemed he was just selling himself out to promote some new medical device...
