Etta James, a person I haven't seen posted elsewhere yet...

http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/2...dex.html?hpt=T2

Apparently has Alzheimers and MRSA . . . not in good shape.

"Right now she is very confused," her son said.

He described his mother as "quite combative ... fighting, biting -- I'm talking way off the chart."

"I am going to end up losing my mother if it keeps going on like this," he said.

Donto James said he's hoping for more information about his mother's condition.

"There has to be another doctor out there who can tell me what is going on with my mother," he said.

Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill me.

Etta James' doctor is "asking for prayers", having announced that the singer is terminally ill. :skull:

I'd say this replaces Hitchens as the best pick for 2012?

It's going to be a big struggle for Etta James.to get to 2012...

Quote

Unfortunately, it appears that legendary singer Etta James' condition
has taken a turn for the worse, right in the middle of the holiday
season. As we know, James is currently suffering from Hepatitis C,
dementia, and incurable final-stage leukemia.
The 73-year-old singer was being treated by live-in, round-the-clock
doctors at her home in Riverside, CA, until Thursday (Dec. 22) when
reports surfaced that James was rushed to the hospital.
CNN tweeted, "An update on Etta James: Her manager tells CNN that
she's been taken to the hospital - her husband and sons are with her."
The husband and sons are currently at odds over how to manage James'
care, and her fortune.
Here's hoping that her situation doesn't worsen further this week.
James' reps issued the following statement early this month: "Etta has
a terminal illness. She's in the final stages of leukemia. She has
also been diagnosed with dementia and Hepatitis C. She's in a home
right now and mostly sleeps. She is under the care of a live-in doctor
from Riverside Community Hospital and two others who have placed her
on oxygen. Her husband is with her 24 hours a day, and her sons visit
regularly. We're all very sad. We're just waiting."

What are heavy? Sea-sand and sorrow;
What are brief? Today and tomorrow;
What are frail? Spring blossoms and youth;
What are deep? The ocean and truth.

C'mon Etta, just a week. I can take Gould, Frazier, and Hitchens dying, but not you.

She is now on a breathing machine according to some reports: http://www.nme.com/n...tta-james/61132

The good news is that her affairs are not yet in order...so it's in someones best interest to keep the machine on for the time being.
