allow me to tempt fate, get ahead of myself, etc. and suggest the death of the cockiness in all Australian cricket players and fans. Unfortunately if it happens it will be in 2005, and we didn't think to nominate such an obscure and unlikely entity for this year.

If England win the Ashes, it will be the birth of English arrogance I can assure you!

If you ask English rugby fans about their latest failures, you always get the stock answer of "It doesn't matter, we are still champions of the World!"

See what I mean?

I thought English arrogance had been in existence for some time, waxing and waning with the country's fortunes, sporting or otherwise. It has probably been on a downward trend since the death of Victoria with a few peaks since.

Yup, we're arrogant, but hey! We're going to stuff the Aussies in this test at least! :D :D B)

(and yes, I'm prepared to have this one bite me on the arse if it rains for the next 3 days)
Pardon me but I got to run
The fact's uncommonly clear
I got to find who's now the number one
And why my angel eyes ain't here

Excuse me while I disappear

Cricket, some say is the sporting equivalent of war ie 99% boredom, 1% terror.
Like painting or playing golf?

I would say about 90% of all wars ends with one defeating the other.
The only war in my knowing that there wasn't a winner was probobly
Vietnam.
