An interesting pick, not least as I'm not aware he's ill. Could be an inspired one...

Is this the bit where some pedantic wanker comes along and says "Actually the show was just called 'Roobarb'"?

(This probably is the most interesting pick on this year's 50, although my generation probably remembers him for from "Henry's Cat". My first ever bank account for putting my pocket money in as a nipper came with a Henry's Cat piggy bank)

He's on my DDP. I know he has mobility problems and I did hear he has some breathing problems too.

He's old and for many of us on here, he's an iconic person.
I think in the next year or two we should start seeing Michael Bond making an entrance on the list.

Sad news and so soon after Richard Briers too. I remember seeing a short documentary on Godfrey and how he sought to emulate Briers' style of narration from Roobarb when he narrated Henry's Cat.

Even though I wasn't familiar with his work (Roobarb was never in the US to my knowledge) it's always a shame to hear of an animator's death

Don't forget Noah and Nellie either.

"All aboard the Skylark!"
Derby Dead Pool showrunner...

"We're today's scrambled creatures, locked in tomorrow's double feature
Heaven's on the pillow, its silence competes with hell
It's a twenty-four hour service, guaranteed to make you tell
And the streets are full of press men
Bent on getting hung and buried
And the legendary curtains are drawn 'round Baby Bankrupt
Who sucks you while you're sleeping
It's the theatre of financiers
Count them, fifty 'round a table
White and dressed to kill."

So the animator and narrator have both gone, that leaves creator and writer Grange Calvely (69) and Johnny Hawksworth (89)who wrote the theme tune. Wonder who'll be next.My moneys on Hawksworth

Why is the front page being updated with his death? He's not on the list this year.

Here's an old BBC programme about Bob Godfrey. The OP's suggestion is that it dates from the early 70s, which seems about right.

Part 2

M. Pei; Nosher Powell; Dudley Simpson; Mike Stoller; Margaret Thatcher(Joker); Peter Wyngarde; Jimmy Young.

2013 DDP Theme Team 1: Ronald Atkins, Ron Braunstein, Ron Brown, Ronald Chesney, Ronald Coase, Ronnie Walter Cunningham, Ronnie Dawson, Ronald Baron Fearn, Ron Flowers, Ronnie Gilbert, Ronald Harwood, Ronald Hines, Ron Isley, Ronnie Masterson, Ronnie Moore, Ronald Pellar, Ronnie Ronalde, Ron Smith, Ronald Stevenson, Ron Suart (Joker)

2013 DDP Theme Team 2: Roger Alton, Roger Angell, Sir Roger Bannister, Roger Cook, Roger Corman, Roger Daltrey, Roger Ebert, Roger Etchegaray, Sir Roger Moore, Sir Roger Norrington, Sir Roger Penrose(Joker), Roger Protz, Roger Sainsbury, Roger Sloman, Roger Smith, Roger Spottiswood, Roger Squires, Roger Staubach, Roger Taylor, Roger Whitaker

Deathrace 2013 Team: Glen Campbell, Henry Kissinger, George Shultz (Joker), Fidel Castro, Stan Lee, Helmut Schmidt, Nelson Mandela, Jerry Lewis, Sidney Poitier, Maximilian Schell, Fats Domino, BB King, Ray Harryhausen, Pierre Cardin, Jiroemon Kimura .

2013 Hartlepool Deadlypool Team: George HW Bush, Jiroemon Kimura, Carl Reiner, Vera Lynn, Kirk Douglas, Patty Andrews, Al Molinaro, BB King, Eydie Gorme, Efrem Zimbalist Jr..

I have CDO. It's like OCD except the letters are in alphabetical order, as they should be.
