"We're today's scrambled creatures, locked in tomorrow's double feature
Heaven's on the pillow, its silence competes with hell
It's a twenty-four hour service, guaranteed to make you tell
And the streets are full of press men
Bent on getting hung and buried
And the legendary curtains are drawn 'round Baby Bankrupt
Who sucks you while you're sleeping
It's the theatre of financiers
Count them, fifty 'round a table
White and dressed to kill."

Creators seem to be a prime category which is producing at a consistent rate but it seems the mind behind the product isn't actually famous until he is dead and won't be until then. It would be a bright idea for a theme team if one could be comprised in the future.

I'm not familiar with the term "a quarter to four scenario", but of the beverages listed I'd choose none of the above. if its an open choice, then, depending on what I was doing at the time, a black coffee, no sugar, a pint of decent real ale, or (worst case scenario) a Coke Zero.

The inventor of the kicktail skateboard has died aged 81. This was the skateboard "which made most of today's skateboarding tricks possible and essentially revolutionized the sport".

I don't think he's exactly A list, but the BBC did report on one of his inventions a couple of months ago. I felt a little out of touch with modern society after reading that article and am still a little unclear as to what a "TED fellow" actually is.
What are brief? Today and tomorrow;
What are frail? Spring blossoms and youth;
What are deep? The ocean and truth.

A TED fellow is someone who often gives speeches at TED talks I believe.
Fascinating videos.

My favourite TED talk is the one about how masturbating to internet pornography is rewriting your brain.

I rather liked Dan Dennet's talk on The illusion of consciousness.
Normally I don't care much about philosophy and philosophers, but Dennet has a good point. I've been thinking occasionally about a somewhat related question ever since a bar discussion: "Is what I call I the driver or rather a passenger of my life?" My answer is both, of course. However, it seems we don't do much driving and if what Dennet describes is correct, we do most of that driving inside our minds, rather than in the outside world.

Hein

Among all the older Nobel laureates, I'd bet against him and Chen Ning Yang dying. The others probably have higher chances of dying.
Charles received the Golden Goose award recently. Although, he is much less active now, as his latest lecture was given more than 5 years ago, and he is turning 98 next year. Could potentially be a contender for DL 2013.
Chen Ning Yang, has recently had a celebration for his 90th birthday which is coming up in October, but seems to be doing well and is still highly active in his field. So you're most likely right about his longevity.
