Cyril Freezer. "A leading light in model railways for six decades", (not a big fish in a small pond really, more like a whale in a puddle) has died at an undefined but advanced age.

I must say I was rather taken with some of tributes made to him on the Model Railway Enthusiasts forum.

A man who also effectively kick-started P4 by provoking the North London Group into building Heckmondwike. RIP, a great loss to the hobby.

What on earth does that actually mean?

Very Sad news - Cyril's name has been associated with model railways for so long. My copy of "track plans" dating from 1972 is very well worn, and plan 18, simplified Exeter Central (minus the hidden loops) formed the basis of my loft layout from around 1973 until 2002 when I could no longer manage the loft ladders.

I get the feeling the author of that post might not have led a terribly active social life.

Things fall apart. It's scientific

I worked with a guy called Richard Feast - but everyone called him Dick. I couldn't keep a straight face or is it only me that finds that funny.

Excellent work, Buster go to the top of the class.
I count at least seven errors, a question mark terminating a sentence that isn't a question, and there isn't one on the sentence that is.
You might be surprised to learn that Thais are also Oriental.

Baseball star Woodie Held has died. I expect he was popular with the ladies.

Unlike US Olympic swimming coach Dick Quick, who has also blown his beans in the great double-backed beast of life.

If it's fake, it's consistent at least - the Arabic script says the same thing. :referee:

So Malay is very similar to Arabic, interesting. I like a little factoid now and again.

Some Singaporean students visited us and gave a presentation (very small world as one of their lecturers was in fact someone who worked on the same floor as me a "few universities" ago) about their University. I remember them saying the offical languages of Singapore were English, Malay, "any one" Chinese and also an Indian language, I forget which but it surprised me for a very small island to have such an array. I didn't think twice about the characters underneath until you mentioned it and to the (my) untrained eye SE Asian languages all seem a little squiggilish.
