I didn't even know he was ill until I'd already entered my team, missed opportunity there, especially as most people seem to have him on their DDP...

Well at least I found out about his illness in time for my shadowlist, but that's scant consolation! Ah well you live (or not) and learn.

As for Zsa Zsa she is on my DDP...I wouldn't wish death on most people, but you know...she's had a good innings...

Was only thinking of Baker Street today an' all.

Mind you, Baker Street has been stuck somewhere in my head since I was 2 years old...and It'll never leave.

RIP Gerry

What a cracking start to DDP 2011 we have already. 3 deaths in 3 days!

Right, back to work...

"We're today's scrambled creatures, locked in tomorrow's double feature
Heaven's on the pillow, its silence competes with hell
It's a twenty-four hour service, guaranteed to make you tell
And the streets are full of press men
Bent on getting hung and buried
And the legendary curtains are drawn 'round Baby Bankrupt
Who sucks you while you're sleeping
It's the theatre of financiers
Count them, fifty 'round a table
White and dressed to kill."

I was kicking myself for missing him on the DDP, so I put him first on my NDP...every cloud and that!

Maryport is a disappointment for which there is no cure, but the annual Deathrace thread hereabouts provides welcome distraction.

Isn't "Baker Street" the most played song in the history of radio?

As of 2009 the most played songs on UK radio were:

1. Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade Of Pale
2. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
3. Everly Brothers - All I Have To Do Is Dream
4. Wet Wet Wet - Love Is All Around
5. Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You
6. Robbie Williams - Angels
7. Elvis Presley - All Shook Up
8. Abba - Dancing Queen
9. Perry Como - Magic Moments
10. Bing Crosby - White Christmas

Still, don't feel too sorry for Rafferty. Baker St was thought to earn him around £80,000 on a good year. I'll drink to that!

I am a bit more aware of who is he thanks to his obits. I have heard of some of his music. But if you were to mention his name, I wouldn't have been able to place him...until now.
