From Cleric To Relic

L. Tom Perry (92) has thyroid cancer and will begin radiation treatment. Perry is the second-most senior member of the high-level Mormon governing body called the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He is also the oldest of the group.

The church also said that Richard G. Scott (86), another member of the Quorum, was hospitalized Thursday night with gastrointestinal bleeding. Scott is resting now after the bleeding was brought under control.

That's right, Sir Creep don't play around. He brings you two names at a time!

Sounds like it will be the Quorum of the Ten Apostles soon. Perry's TREATMENT is going to kill him dead. He won't see 2016 or Sir Creep will convert.

Phew, Sir C doesn't have to convert! (Unless he wants to, I'm pro-choice here).

The brothers who founded the Mormon religion both died on my birthday, and I has some odd fascination with Brigham Young Univ as a teenager (so much so my mother bought me a t-shirt for the Cougars -- a name I gave my dog cuz of BYU). So I'm damn near a Mormon anyway, and would be but for the non-drinking and no holiday things.

Sorry to hear they're down to a Quorum of Eleven.

SirC (still Catholic by birth).

WHY IS THIS SACK OF SHIT ALLOWED TO LIVE BY GOD??!

I'm talking about rev. PAT ROBERTSON! I know these televangelists say the stupidest things from now and then, well, mostly, but this takes the cake. One wonders the sanity of he person asking him that question anyway, but Robertson answered it in a way only he could.

a viewer asked host Pat Robertson what she should say to a coworker who asked her, "Why did God allow my baby to die?"

He responded that it is possible that the coworker's three-year-old child died as a result of human error at the hospital: "Are you going to blame that on God? That's not God, that's people who are making mistakes

"As far as God's concerned, he knows the end from the beginning and He sees a little baby and that little baby could grow up to be Adolf Hitler, he could grow up to be Joseph Stalin, he could grow up to be some serial killer, or he could grow up to die of a hideous disease," Robertson said. "God sees all of that, and for that life to be terminated while he's a baby, he's going to be with God forever in Heaven so it isn't a bad thing."

Well, that will comfort a greaving mother! One wonders though why Mrs. Hilter was spared this anguish and little baby Adolph could grow up to build the Third Reich, or Mrs. Stalin whose tiny tot Joseph was the pride of the family.

Why was Pat Robertson allowed to live by God?

TOSSSER!!!!

See it to believe it...

Why was Pat Robertson allowed to live by God?

Robertson's existence is a good illustration of the problem of evil, a strong argument against the existence of an omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent god.

What the hell, let's ruffle some feathers and push the boundaries of what can be posted here.

Oh sure, just put in Dead of 2015 Sir Creep; why at you a pain in the arse Sir Creep? It's what I do.

On June 20, Chuck VonDerAhe, a former President of Atheist Alliance of America, died after a battle with cancer. He was 66 years old. Christine Shellska, AAA’s current President, said that Chuck bequeathed his estate to the organization.

For interest, the new President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is 90 year old Russell Nelson, replacing Boyd K Packer who died as reported above. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/reuters/article-3164197/Former-heart-surgeon-head-Mormon-Churchs-board.html

Always seems to make the Daily Mail, so probably a shoo in for a UK obit when he pops off. No sign of Monson, the head of the Church going though.

DEFI ITELY a guy to keep an eye on for 2016....Archbishop Daniel Buechlein from Indiana (78) has what's termed a minor stroke, in hospital a couple days. No biggie.

But look at this: "Archbishop Buechlein...has suffered a series of health problems...In 2008, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and underwent several weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The treatments were successful and he is cancer free. In 2009, Archbishop Buechlein had shoulder replacement surgery and in 2010 he had surgery to remove a benign tumor from his stomach."

He's been away from the hospital too long. I foresee a series of setbacks. The perfect DP sleeper pick.

Archbishop Buechlein remains a great pick imho. I can't find a recent health update re: lymph node cancer, but this parish (from his hometown Indianapolis) has him listed in their 'Pray for the Sick' weekly bulletin Sept 7. Don't know if that's an ongoing thing till he dies, or if they know something on a personal level and he's taking a turn for the worse.

How about a woman here for once, although not a 'cleric' by any means .

The Reverend Larissa Kwong Abazia, Vice Moderator of the 221st General Assembly (2014) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is going to get chemo.

Had surgery on Aug 6 and is in recovery at this time.

Haiti's chief voodoo priest, Max Beauvoir, has died at 79:

Before his spiritual career, he was a biochemist, but then his dying voodoo grandfather appointed him successor by pointing a finger at him.
