Ahmed Ben Bella, 96, Algeria's first President, is variously reported to be "clinically dead" , "in a stable condition", or " in good health and resting at home"...

What are heavy? Sea-sand and sorrow;
What are brief? Today and tomorrow;
What are frail? Spring blossoms and youth;
What are deep? The ocean and truth.

When describing Bella's moods they must tend to exaggerate.

Rumours abound that the long-serving Isias Afewerki, Eritrean President is "dead" as he hasn't been seen in public for a while - http://www.bbc.co.uk...africa-17875943.

Using that rule, most of the remaining members of "It Ain't Half Hot Mum" must be deceased too.

Quite. As dubious as I am about the journalistic standards of the Ethiopian press, there's something definitely wrong with him and he's had a few health problems in the past.

Coincidentally, the average life expectancy of Ethiopia is 58 so he's 90 in Ethiopia terms.

He's maybe not as famous (or infamous) as, say, Mugabe, but his passing would be of major significance in Africa and would generate a lot of press coverage internationally

True, but his health is too-rumor based for a spot in my opinion.
