Bartholomew Ulufa'alu is going on my DDP next year. Anyone with a name as fantastic as that is deserving of more widespread recognition.

I suggest you think again.
Ulufa'alu has made a full recovery from his emergency stay in hospital and resigned his post as finance minister on Monday over the Solomon Isle's links with Australia.

You can add him on for the name, but don't expect him to die.

That is a shame. Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah it is then.

Things fall apart. It's scientific

Ian Paisly has been moving about a bit too much for an 80 year old recently, he's giving an interview every news programme that'll have him. Seems fairly healthy at the minute but is supposed to be just getting over a long unspecified illness, prehaps next year-dying just before he becomes first minister.

this article (so hot off the press it is has tomorrow's date) is still referring to Ulufa'alu as gravely ill.

Things fall apart. It's scientific

Just been anounced David Ervine (Progressive Unionist Party) has been admitted to hospital. (Criticaly Ill) Could this be the first decent famous near miss?

link

(edit) I'm sure there's another political thread somewhere
This is true my form is something odd,
But blaming me is blaming God;
Could I create myself anew
I would not fail in pleasing you.

He's not the first significant near miss cos Magnus Magnussen has just trumped him on that score. Main BBC News site are trailing both headlines.

Maryport is a disappointment for which there is no cure, but the annual Deathrace thread hereabouts provides welcome distraction.

Now no offense oh wise and sagely one; but how famous could the man be seeing as how I have never hear of him and I have eaten blue jello.

And isn't putting progressive and unionist together something of an oxymoron?

(I never will understand British politics)

Ervine news story, still not saying much other than 'taken ill at home' and 'critical.' A combination that often means heart trouble, but we'll see. Not aware anyone - even OSP - even considered him a candidate for carketure.

Latest news, still critical. Started with a heart attack then had a stroke and brain haemorrhage in hospital.

Potential causes of death eh? Like buses, you wait for ages for one and three come along at the same time!

Depends if what someone becomes is more important than what they were.

Ervine was imprisoned in Long Kesh in 1974 while an active member of the UVF, after being arrested driving a car bomb to its presumed target of a pub frequented by Catholic civilians

Paisley may be vocal, but...

Ah well, sh*t happens.

I also thought Lord Renton would easily reach his century. Probably explains why I'm only mid-table in the DDP

Well, it looks like no one did put the Bartholomew Ulufa'alu into their DDP after all! What a miss and a half?

Wojciech Jaruzelski - Former president of Poland - Recently (hospitalized) and in failing health

Well, wouldn't you agree that expanding the discussion to Former European Presidents And Prime Minister's would make the thread more informative and interesting? I really think so. It would give readers more options to post about and besides, it's better to have a thread which covers 'a whole category' then a thread which would only cover 1\3 of the category. This way, it's basically limiting a subject to one thread instead of four threads. You know what I mean?
