Political Frailty

Recommended Posts

Playing both sides is a very high-risk strategy to be undertaken solely by great political minds and movers. Simon Danczuk is not a great political mind. I wouldn't trust him to run the office Eurovision sweepstakes.

It's a joke that MPs can get away with this nonsense.

Apparently the 17-year-old was a "financial dominatrix", too.

Well RadGuy, since you asked....

Here's an historical list of all the Canadian Lieutenant Governors by province. (It's out of date so I checked many names over 90 yrs old and found most are dead)

Here's Manitoba:

23 Oct 1981 - 11 Dec 1986 The Honourable Pearl McGonigal (b. 1929), 5 Mar 1993 - 2 Mar 1999 The Honourable W. Yvon Dumont (b. 1951) 2 Mar 1999 - 1 Jul 2004 The Honourable Peter M. Liba (b. 1940) 1 Jul 2004 - 4 Aug 2009 The Honourable John Harvard (b. 1938 - d.2016) 4 Aug 2009 - 19 Jun 2015 The Honourable Philip Lee (b. 1944) 19 Jun 2015 - The Honourable Janice Filmon

Looks like McGonigal is next to go to that vast wheat field in the sky.

Here's some very old folks (90+) worth noting***:

British Columbia: None

Alberta: None

Saskatchewan: None

Ontario: None

Quebec:

28 Mar 1984 - 9 Aug 1990 Colonel The Honourable Gilles Lamontagne (b. 1919)

Nova Scotia: None

New Brunswick:

20 Aug 1987 - 21 Jun 1994 The Honourable Gilbert Finn (b. 1920) DIED JAN 7 2016! Two days after John Harvard!

Newfoundland and Labrador: None

PEI: None

Yukon: None

Northwest Territories:

2 Mar 1967 - 6 Apr 1979 Stuart Milton Hodgson (b. 1924)

Nunavut: None (only been a province recognized since 1999 I believe)

That'll be a hit for The Honourable Member for DDP North when the obligatory Times or Telegraph obit comes in.

It was thought to be a Tory safe seat, Banff, you know, and his young Nationalist challenger wasn't expected to do too well. A young guy by the name of Alex Salmond. He won the seat, but I don't think he ever did anything after that...

He was the 2nd oldest former MP. The oldest is still Ronald Atkins who will be 100 in June. Incidentally if he makes it he'll be the first centenarian MP since Bert Hazel died in January 2009
