I believe he was the oldest former leader of a country, still living.
Does anybody know who is it now. (Maybe the ex-president of Senegal or Suriname)

Had Gabriel París Gordillo lived another month and a half, it would have been him. The oldest living former head of state is now Johan Ferrier of Suriname, with Mamadou Dia of Senegal not far behind. These lists may be of some interest to you.

The above comment about Mamo's health by myself should be stark proof as why I am doing so abysmally in the DDP :)

An update on Corazon Aquino, the former president of the Philippines, who is suffering from colon cancer. She says "Never be afraid of suffering"

From faith healers to undergoing chemotherapy, she is managing to halt her show down. I think she might survive.

Former South Korean President Roh Tae-Woo ,76, has been hospitalised with pneumonia.

Roh's health has been failing since he underwent an operation for prostate cancer in 2002. He was hospitalised in January and February of this year for similar complaints.

Two dead American politicians. Former Ohio legislator Gene Damschroder wiped himself and five others out in a Cessna crash, while Arizona senator Jake Flake has flaked out from a heart attack.

This is the wrong thread, isn't it?

All over the world, former politicial leaders are dying. This is probably a good thing.

The latest joining the great debating chamber in the sky are:

Gerard Batliner, leader of Liechenstein between 1962-1970.
Jean-Pierre Thystère Tchicaya, Congo President in 1979.

Heard Geoffrey Howe on Radio 4's Today programme this morning, talking about the economic crisis.
I must say, he sounded a bit frail, in a sort of Enoch Powell on his last legs sort of way.
If you could imagine his (once) familiar dulcet tones, but several semitones higher...

One to watch...

Apperently Nguyen Ngoc Tho, first prime minister of Vietnam was forgotten. He became 100 in May.

It's unknown whether he's alive or not. The article states he was last known to be alive in 1992.
