Good call Dennis. Healey has to be at least considered for 2006. His wife, I believe, recently passed away, he has looked frail and aged of late, and I seem to recall him having heart trouble. A strong posibility for 2006 (oops, I think that is turning into my catchphrase).

I agree, I think he should be on next years list.

Not much sign of that gloating post since August 30th. Does anyone have any inside information that might help us assess him for 2006?

I've heard that he has a clean health record, especially given his age. Of course, given his age it only takes one little thing to bump him off, but that hardly illuminates him in light of the many other more "qualified" candidates we've discussed.

Baron Healey isn't looking too chipper these days. Saw him on a Martin Bell docu-show about war reporting recently; I hardly recognised him, save for the trademark bushy eyebrows. He looked extremely gaunt and didn't sound too confident.
He was born in 1917, which makes him 8 years older than Thatcher, at 88. Maybe they're both just outstaying their welcome in an attempt to outlive one another?

I've long suspected some of our members as being frequent fliers around Westminster; anyone seen him recently or have any news?

I disagree - no known health problems & he's still making regular functions (He was at the House of Commons in the last few weeks).

However he is devoted to his wife Edna, so the only reason he would be worth a punt is if she died... but it's not an exact science - Michael Foot & Lord Carrington go on whilst's Healy's old mate Callaghan went in days.

There are far, far better candidates than him - I can see him going on a few years yet**

I know what you mean. There are no obvious utstanding health problem on top of his age.
But surely any famous 92 year old has at least a solid claim to go on the list.

The positional order of this year's list could have been improved upon. Denis Healey at Number 10 - that's all wrong whilst in the position of Chancellor of the Exchequer, Denis Healey occupied number 11 Downing Street - that means he should be at position 11 in the list and Maggie Thatcher should thus be in position 10 on the list (not 13) for similar rational.
Likewise I notice Betty Ford could have been number 16 (as in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue)
No need to have moved Nelson Mandela from position number 27 (since he was jailed for over 27 years)
Jenny Diski looses the floppy drive to stay alive...
Shadow List 2016. Caroline Aherne, Muhammad Ali, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Rene Angelil, Daisy Berkowitz, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Chuck Blazer, George HW Bush,
Glen Campbell, Lord Carrington, Jimmy Carter, Errol Christie, Martin Crowe, Tim Curry, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Liz Dawn, Jenny Diski, Bob Dole, Kirk Douglas,
Joey Feek, Rob Ford, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Mikhail Gorbachev, Rev Billy Graham, Dr Kate Granger, Jimmy Greaves, Goran Hadzic,
Dan Haggerty, Valerie Harper, Joao Havelange, Stephen Hawking, John Hurt, Jenny Inman, Clive James, Bill Kenwright, Val Kilmer, Helmut Kohl, Lee Kun-hee (Samsung), Howard Marks, Mary Tyler Moore, Robert Mugabe, Nancy Reagan, Nick Robinson, Ian St John, Lupita Tovar, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Joost van der Westhuizen, Gunther von Hagens, Ron Walker (AUS GP) & Jiang Zemin. 9/50
