Teddy 21 Posted June 23, 2004 According to the Bad Manners site, Buster recently underwent an operation. To quote '25 May 2004 - Last Saturday, Buster finally had an operation to combat his obesity. Having been on the waiting list since September 2002, the operation came in at the last minute. The surgeons removed half of Buster's intestine, which will obviously speed things up internally. The doctor's advised that Buster could be down to 12 stone within 18 months. Consequently we have had to cancel the first part of the tour, dates for Middlesbrough and Luton are already in and we will be back in Bradford fairly soon. Buster feels fit and well and is looking forward to seeing everybody, when he starts back to work on 4th June.' If he'd have done a bit more research on DeathList though (World's Strongest Man thread), rather than waiting for the op, he could have had the guts crushed out of him two years ago. VSBfromH 74 Posted December 1, 2004 He was on "Buzzcocks" a few weeks ago (don't think it was a repeat). Seems to have slimmed down quite a bit, though he's still a big lad! Looked very jolly. I believe he now runs his own pub. He was also on one of the kids' progs quite recently where he did his party trick of swallowing a whole jar of jellied eels or suchlike - don't know what that must be doing to his health! He has now agreed to front a publicity campaign for The Meningitis Trust. "I felt I was floating. I could see everybody I knew around me but couldn't place who they were. It was terrifying." He told the Sun newspaper. The Bad Manners singer's heart stopped for 17 seconds while he was on a life support machine. Also a good pic here (think he's been dieting since then!): Buster in 2001 I sincerely hope he's over all these problems as he's a top guy and a total one-off! Guest Good King Jon Posted December 14, 2004 I interviewed him yesterday for the Evening Times (Glasgow), and can reveal that not only is he alive and well, but has gone from a truly bloodvessel busting 31 stone down to 13.5 - the weight he was at age 14. After a health wake-up call involving a hernia that could only be treated by a professor specialising in obsesity, he underwent an operation removing 2/3 of his stomach through a one inch incision. But yes your man did drive by to plug his article, but he was also being helpful so let's all say a big thankyou. And if Buster dies next year and isn't on the list then we know who is getting an email bomb. Perhaps Teddy can take a peek at the article in question, if buying a Glasgow paper isn't beneath his dignity. We could all chip in towards the price. I'll stick to the Edinburgh Evening News, where the journalists at least know how to spell Having said that, the Glasgow Evening Times is probably the most respected paper to come from the West Coast - but when you consider that the competition consists of the Scottish Sun and the Daily Record, it is not a major achievement. Guest stalker Posted April 13, 2005 i work with the (formerly) big guy, he is at present working on www.badfest.com and this is proving very stressfull, so you never know he could end up horizontal anyway. I showed him this site, he found it very amusing and wanted to appologise to anyone who may be dissapointed that he is still with us, and he intends to be for many years to come. still keep watching the obits.
