Mo Mowlam

Recommended Posts

There is only one non-monarch in this country who has recieved a State funeral and that was Sir Winston Churchill. I doubt Maggie will get a State funeral because the Queen Mother only recieved a Ceremonial funeral (there is a difference).

Shes likely going to have a funeral like Ted Heaths - with a labour Prime Minister and a monarch who hates her there will not be much in her favour.

Didn't Horatio Nelson have a state funeral too?

Em - damn - as I was saying only one non monarch in the 20th Century recieved a State funeral and that was Sir Winston Churchill.

I'm not sure about Nelson. But then again Margaret Thatcher is not an inspirational war time figure - unless you count the Falklands.

I think both Nelson and Wellington had state funerals. However, you're right that there is a difference between State and Ceremonial (a la Diana, I think?).

I'd have thought Maggie would get a Ceremonial one because an enormous number of people think she did a lot of good things for the country. Obviously - not least judging by some of the recent posts - not everyone agrees and the event would no doubt have to be heavily-policed.

I hope that those who don't think much of her will have the decency to allow those of us who do to pay our respects without wrecking the occasion with mayhem and violence.

Incidentally I still think Mo Mowlam is a treacherous hypocrite. It's just that I wouldn't throw eggs or blow a klaxon at her funeral.

If she follows Robin Cook, that's another New Labour critic biting the dust.

Surely there should be some sort of cosmic balancing, say someone like Alistair Campbell for instance....

Don't know if Mo is a 'big' enough political figure, but I think this country needs a good state funeral.

Typical isn't it ?

Ol' Robin wants to hog this limelight too.

If Mo follows Robin into that great goodnight within a few days I think we should start a conspiracy theory rumour on this site. Especially if there are no New Labour types dropping dead at the same time to balance the equation.

Could I nominate Peter Mandelson as the new New Labour type to die PLEASE ?

Ok so it doesn't work like that but I'm sorry to see "Good Comrades" go so early :+

She's been moved to a hospice. Doesn't sound good.

That is indeed very bad news..this means there is no hope of a recovery and its just a question of looking after her till her death, although that could still be some time away.

some patiemnts can survive for several months in a hospice apparentely, but as Mo Mowlam is described as being in a critical condition she might not have nearly that long

I think this is the place Mo is staying at.

Hang on a sec. I don't think we should publish this kind of information on the forum. It's rather personal and completely irrelevant.

Hein

I think this is the place Mo is staying at.

And I've found where Biggs is staying at:

Belmarsh Prison.

Southeast London.

(I think my patch is wearing out - the posts are increasing)

The information is in the public arena already, the Broadsheets revealed it hours ago.

So?

We're not a broadsheet. We're not even a tabloid.

Hein
