Richard O'Sullivan

Recommended Posts

It got popular because it became the home of much random discussion and gradually moved away from its main purpose of considering the amount of useful life left to Dickie O. When things got too random for comfort the admins closed the thread, prompting some outcry. As I recall it I argued strongly that this thread represented our "common room." It no longer fills that role and there's much more mirth and jollity poured into Room 101 and the like these days. Still glad the admins relented and returned Richard to us, mind.

Yes, odd that, a rare mistake by the admins. I remember some admonishment of Hackenslash, but not sure what for. Not much discussion any more of Brinsworth House either. I noticed the other day while looking up Charlie Drake that he died in Twickenham. Brinsworth? I can't remember whether he was a resident. I suppose it was all discussed at the time.

Fairly sure the diminutive Mr Drake WAS resident there, perhaps in an under-stairs cupboard or cardboard box near the kitchens. Oddly, it was a discussion on whether Drake was alive that first brought me here. He married a few times, latterly to someone considerably younger...so I'm guessing we'll revive his name on the Widow Shopping thread eventually.

There's been some Brinsworth discussion over the past six months I'm sure... mainly as to whether or not Bob Holness is currently a resident, and whether whoever's running the DDP at the time will put any effort into his obituary or just go with "Can I have an RIP please Bob?" instead.

If Brinsworth were to open a Twitter account and tweet the various comings and goings it could save us a lot of trouble.

If one of us were to be employed in managing said Twitter account the other dead poolers could take a year off.

Well I had a shufti at the FaceBook page, and I probably don't know what I'm talking about but..... How do you know that's him? It's the same as on Twitter, who knows who is who? Incidentally I am following @Queen_Uk and it must be her majesty; who would have thought she had such a good grasp of technology?

Wonder how long it'll be before his Facebook gets 1984 posts.

I was very specific that it is a facebook fan page.

In fact I have been very remiss. There is a far better fan page here.

https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=66876955308

It does not have any recent health news regarding him but there is plenty of critical opinion. ("

Telly just aint the same without dear....dear old dickie ;-)", " I was just a little Autralian girl but I thought he was so handsome!! What's he up to now days??!...........Oh I see from the link below, he had a stroke : ( ", etc)

If we could get an accurate evaluation of Mr.O'Sullivan's health would there be any chance of getting him on the main list for 2013?

Do forgive me. There is in fact health news regarding Mr.O'Sullivan. I simply hadn't read down to the bottom of the page.

"

Great actor, very funny indeed! I have the whole series of "Robin's Nest" still to watch on dvd. I met Tony Britton after a play he did, he gave me his autograph and i asked if he'd seen Richard recently, his reply was "he's not too well at the moment"

:("

Admitedly this was posted a little over a year ago but it does count as news. Does anyone else have anything recent on

Mr.O'Sullivan?

As we know, The Man About the House star is in a nursing home as a full time resident and is described as "very fragile" following a recent stroke, despite being just 59.

A reasonable bet. He is also a manic depressive so he may give us a second bite of the cherry with an overdose or a hanging.

What a vile bitch, don't be so disrespectful..why don't u die yourself instaed, bitch!!

Thanx for that Mr anonymous Guest.

It was good information from Arnold as ever and truly in the spirit of DeathList. However Guest you'll be pleased to note that Mr O'Sullivan didnt make it to this year's list so we're actually hoping for him to survive the year.

You on the other hand is a different matter...

Yes whatever. Obviously just some silly dry humoured witty (or maybr wittless) site disrespecting Mr O'Sullivan and others who may not be with us for much longer. When one is looking on the web for some 'proper' information about someone, one does not expect to be directed to such a tasteless site as this. Indeed such an undignified display from people with no class..so please I will take your 'you on the other hand....' comment in the way that this site intends, with a pinch of salt.!!!

in the maentime I will serach elsewhere and hope to come across something more fruitful. And I do hope that Mr O'Sullivan feels better soon, as 59 is no age for someone to fall so ill.

;)

I bet Tony Blackburn is laughing his bollocks off, Dick will find it harder to go round shagging other men's wives now.

What goes around come around, oui??

I found myself re-reading the first few pages of this thread and it felt like re-reading the start of great novel.

Let's hope that we get some kind of hard news on Dickie soon.

I wonder why, out of all the people whose death we have disscussed, this one generated so much reaction?

It has generated such a reaction because the same few posters won't shut up about him.

The thread became a kind of catch-all for irrelevant banter and acted as a kind of DL common room for well over a year. Many posts were Dickieless, and it was closed briefly as a result of the irrelevance. Other posts mined depths of ironic praise for Dickie O's work that suggested their writers weren't true fans. The extra-curricular section of the current DL site owes much to Dickie's thread, which is why he's here and not rubbing shoulders with Patrick Moore and the like.

Last time I was here , that thread was the best entertainment on the web . However , if the thread got ambushed....maybe it shouldnt be resurrected...

Shame tho....cos Richard O was indeed a legend...and his situation was of much interest

hi Windsor

no....I haven't heard anything about him (other than whats already been posted here) . I was purely interested in what he was up to . I presume he is still at

Brinsworth ?

Since I was last a regular here , my work situation has taken a slight turn for the worst (so no SKY now...economies had to be made) . Therefore I cant watch him on GOLD like I used to......
