Who Should Be On The 2015 Deathlist?

Recommended Posts

Bring me your tired (suggestions), your poor (choices), and your minor Dr. Who actors and wrestlers no-one cares about.

(Or do better if you can manage it).

First person to say Luise Rainer gets hit over the head with one of these:

I'll start us off:

"Mad" Frankie Fraser

Bring me your tired (suggestions)

Tony Booth (b 1931) . He's probably quite tired, on account of both his failing health and on account of his son in law still being Tony Blair.

your poor (choices),

Nicholas Winton (b 1909), as he is very old, and possibly a secret immortal.

and your minor Dr. Who actors

Derren Nesbitt (b 1935), alcoholic who once thought of as a potential bright light in British acting, only to become a bit of a non-entity after he beat up his wife. Was a villain in Dr Who back in the 1960s.

and wrestlers no-one cares about.

Jose Gonlazes, Invader 1 (born circa 1940s) - promoter and wrestler from Puerto Rico famous for murdering Bruiser Brody in the showers of an arena over a pay dispute, then getting involved in the cover up of the murder and completely getting away with it.

He's not going to die anytime soon, but you did ask for one no one cares about.

(Or do better if you can manage it).

Jimmy Hill.

Paul Gascoigne-Although he says he has stopped Drinking and all his vital organs are fine, he looks terrible and will no doubt start drinking sooner rather than later and his body must be near packing in despite his claims.

Muhammad Ali-Getting towards the back end of Parkinson's disease would be surprised if he lasted much longer.

Richie Benaud-Fighting Skin Cancer and looks terrible.

Zsa Zsa Gabor-Has pretty much everything wrong with her and has to go eventually maybe 2015 will finally be the year, plus she is one of the Death List Favourites in my view if she did die and we didn't have her on the list would be a big miss.

Ian Brady and Peter Sutcliffe-Both are scum of the earth but both would be big misses if they weren't on the list, both said to be in bad health.

Ken Kercheval- Looks like death warmed up, has only one lung but still smokes, is an Alcoholic and is 80 next year could be his time.

George Kennedy-Big hefty guy who is 90 next year surely can't go on forever.

Billy Graham-Allegedly better but still frail with Parkinson's bad hearing and eyesight and generally just knackered.

Zsa Zsa Gabor-Tired with everything wrong with her.

Clive James Liz Dawn Kenneth Cope and Leonard Nimoy -Tired with emphysema.

Paul Gascoigne and Shane Macgowan-Their livers must be getter tired now.

Sheila Mercier Denis Norden Peter Sallis Diana Athill Clare Hollingworth, Ken Hechler and Liz Smith-All look tired and ancient and have done for some time.

Poor Choices

What...? I think enough people like/remember Jake the Snake.... when I made that was remark I was talking about people who suggest "Verne Gagne" and other incredibly obscure types should be on the front page.

Everyone stop using my sarcastic remarks as a template now....

I imagine previous DL candidates are, by default, already being considered. So I won't waste time listing them, as they are already on your radar.

But here are some new names for consideration; enjoy my meager contribution:

Gaston Glock: Weapons Designer (Glock, a-dur!)- Suffered two strokes (in 2008 and 2012), sustained mulitple head injuries resulting from an attempted murder in 1999- turns 86

Joe Cocker: Rocker- Reportedly in failing health according to close friend Billy Joel. I know it's not much to go off of, but perhaps enough to warrant listing him at, like, #48 on the list.

Don Rickles: Comedian- Unlike most of the still-active Hollywood legends that have been listed, Don is visibly frail, requiring a cane or wheelchair for mobility. He turns 88.

Morrissey: Singer- Has Cancer, as everybody knows, blah blah blah...

It pains me to finger a long time hero in such a way, but Ali, surely, has to be there.

I am sure it would end up being very painful for you if you attempted to finger him!

Jorge Zorreguieta seems like the kind of person who doesnt have a lot of months left but also like the kind of person who wouldn't get an English langauged obit seeing that his only claim to fame is being Queen Maxima's dad...

Beyond that i find it difficult to do any really original suggestions... Only obvious people like Rob Ford and Leonard Nimoy spring to mind....

Edit: Burt Kwouk perhaps?

Another edit: Or perhaps Nick Nolte

Another edit: Or how about Luise Rainer

Don't know but i assume it's something seeing that he has talked about his dead in almost every interview he has taken in recent years...

I had to Google that to check whether it was an episode of Filthy Rich and Catflap.

Also, to the people saying "Keep"...... there's still over a month to go!

Sean Connery, actor <--- I'm surprised he's not a regular pick.

Warren Buffett, economist <--- Didn't he have health problems or something?

Stanley Donen, director <--- The last film director from the "golden age of Hollywood" still alive.

Buzz Aldrin, astronaut <--- Would be cool to have an astronaut on the DL.

Dick Cheney, politician <--- Not in best of healths.

Prostate cancer a couple years ago, but that was in the very early stages and it's a disease that's near-never fatal when caught early.

I agree with those saying O'Hara and Ali.

Honestly, just take a look at the people in my status, and add the most frailest ones to the deathlist, with the exception of the ones who have already carked it.

The following 3 are reportedly on deaths door and would be close to certain deaths if they make it to Jan 1

Mad Frankie Fraser

Peter Sutcliffe

Gordie Howe

Other's not on the death list who should be added

Muhammad Ali-Boxing Legend who with MS who looks visibly frailer in recent photo's.Not a dead cert but a huge miss if the Dl committee passes him over

Monica Vitti- Had had Alzheimer's for years and has not been seen in public in a decade

Danielle Darrieux -Turns 98 next year

One of the most prolific French Actresses ever

Don't think she would have quit making films a few years ago if not for declining health since she had been consistently working for decades

Paul Gascoigne- Football Icon drinking himself to death

Eventually the reaper will not liver him alone

Kirk Kerkorian-Turns 98 next year

Billionare Businessman who was one of the people to build Las Vegas

His much younger wife and his children are already fighting over his money

Ingvar Kamprad-Founder of Ikea

Wife died in 2011

Was an alcoholic for many years

In 2013 moved back to his hometown

As for wrestling picks if I had to pick someone I would go with Abdullah The Butcher though even with his obit certain he is too obscure for the DL committee

People from 2014 who should be removed due to random names of old person picked out of a hat being a better choice

Dick Van Dyke-Dude is spryer then guys 10-15 year younger.By far 1 of the 2 worst choices of the 2014 deathlist

Tony Bennett-see above

Helmet Schmidt

should be removed due to cancer remission

Wilko Johnson

I think the DL needs to stop trying to play catch-up to DDP standout teams and go back to its roots. Lets have more fading 90+ celebrities of a previous generation or 75+ers who've had strokes/heart attacks in recent years. Why not Jimmy Greaves? George Cole? Burt Kwouk? These seem like more DL-y names than some of the ones being bandied about here. Nimoy's a good punt though.
