Jean Marie Trappeniers at 74.

Made a bit of 'unusualness' when he came on as a sub for Belgium , to join 10 of his club team mates.

A while ago I mentioned BBC commentator Mick Lowe who is BBC Radio Newcastle's primary commentator for the football. Just to update you that he's missed a few more matches for health reasons. He's been consistently missing matches sporadically for a while now so there's an opportunity for a long term health issue. No public knowledge though, might be an outside bet for next years less picky deadpools, could probably even swing a national obit if you're short.

Now retired. Hasn't said it's for health reason but it probably is. The cover presenters were saying they hoped he got better during recent matches. Probably swing a national, been around almost as long as Ali Brownlee (the boro comm not the triathlete)

(Octopus of Odstock) Jimmy Armfield has made a good enough recovery to start broadcasting again.

That's good news, I've always liked Jimmy Armfield... smile.png

In a tragic twist, a 19-year-old footballer was killed in the Syria fighting. Kassem Shamkha died in Aleppo while fighting off a rebel attack. He was fighting alongside Hezbollah. Since 2009, Shamkha had played for Hezbollah's Al-Ahed football club which has won Lebanon's national championships four times, most recently in 2015.

If my math is correct he was playing with the national team at age 13?

He was one of the first names on the teamsheet for me when it came to 2017, but he's not gonna make the start line. Former Lancaster City captain Neil Marshall dead at 31.

I saw that as a text while I was out and about. My first thought was "Nice spot Charon". My second was: imagine dying in Barrhead of all places.

Hence the dignitas reference in the original post.

My first thought was 'selfish bastard couldn't hold on another 50 days'.

Former national goalkeeper Lim Chiew Peng died on Sunday (Nov 27) after losing his fight with cancer.

The 65-year-old was warded at Singapore General Hospital. He was Singapore’s first-choice goalkeeper during the early 1970s and was part of the team that won the 1977 Malaysia Cup.

As Spade was so taken by Mr Provan, he can stick another hun in for 2017.

Provan had a tribute night to help cover his costs, and the bloke who organised it, has gone and organised another for near enough the same reasons.

Ronnie Moore left Eastleigh by mutual consent for "personal reasons".

Dig back a year and at Hartlepool he had time off as his daughter took seriously I'll.

Possibly the same reason....

It amuses me that this thread is nearly ten years old, and yet Menotti, Zagallo and all bar Robson mentioned as contenders in the opening post are still with us! The vagaries of life for you.

Without double checking, I think around half the folk in the Political Frailty OP are still alive, as well.
