At last a decent thread, thanks Anubis for putting this through the threadomatic. I shall be considering candidates for a "squid of the year" award in the Monkeys.

A member prone to changing their avatar from time to time should consider the squid option. A google image search for said creatures produces an array of cephalopodic possibilities.

A giant squid being caught by Japanese fishermen using another squid as bait.

Squid-on-squid action, what more could one ask for?

Do men really angle for squid, surely that's like hunting ants with a pack of hounds?

Ah I think squids are boring. But those creatures who roam the great deep with headlights are more worth the talk.

If you love squids you may be interested in watching "Slither" - it has some creatures that could possibly be related...

My profile picture contains squid & blond nubile females. A classic, yet sadly rare, mix. ;)

As long as Jane Tomlinson doesn't die in the next fortnight, it will also likely be my next avatar..

A guy goes into a seafood restaurant and asks to see the dishes of the day. The waiter wheels over a trolley and the man examines the dishes.

"I'll have the little green squid with the hairy lip, please" says the man. "O.K." replies the waiter and calls out "Gervais!"

A little French chef appears with a large knife, the waiter instructs the chef to kill the little green squid with the hairy lip.

Gervais is just about to slice at the poor squid when he notices a tear running down its face. Gervais is touched, and admits that he hasn't the heart to kill the squid.

"Not to worry" says the waiter, and calls out "Hans!!" at which an enormous German bloke comes out of the kitchen. "Sir", says the waiter, "this is Hans, the dishwasher. Hans, kill that squid!"

The dishwasher wields a huge rolling pin and is just about to bludgeon the little green squid with the hairy lip when it cringes back and gives a little cry.

"I am sorry sir, I just cannot kill the squid" Hans admits, his lower lip trembling.

"Well sir," says the waiter, "it just goes to show.

That Hans that do dishes, can be soft as Gervais. With mild green, hairy lip squid!"

I've liked both your avatars thusfar, can't say how I'll feel about this one.

Although, really, I've had my "Canadian Paula" avatar in storage for a while, waiting for an opportune time... :bat:

On the other hand, from its expression I doubt that the octopus is fully consenting.

This is an early vote from me for link of the year! :(

My Squid Quotient = 123

Interpreting your results: An average Squid Quotient is around 100. A SQ of 100 means you have a normal affinity for squid. A SQ above 100 means you have an attraction or fondness for squid. Below 100 means that you should probably stay away from the deep ocean.

What a superb site. I especially like the squid fight game. When I woke up this morning I never expected my day to include pitting a squid against an alpaca in a fight to the death.
