I predict the grim reaper is going to confound sceptics and be its most powerful yet like a super strong enema in 2024 moreso than recent years equalling or even beating 2020

Pity you haven't deployed them around Westminster more strategically. -

But this isn't about the Deathlist. It's about deaths of notable people in general. But the younger you are, the fewer you will know. As for "household names", that's overrated as a criterion. I know who everyone is who was mentioned in Gooseberry's post. And Derek Draper. Many actors are very recognisable by their faces or by the roles they have played, if not always by name. -
Bloody hell. I was sure somebody had her.

Quite a few of us have Alice, but I don't think she's on the list of game-enders.

Wonderfully atmospheric song, I still love it. It always takes me back to a smoky upstairs bar in Oxford that had a really cool jukebox. It was a long time before I stopped thinking "Wow, this guy sounds so much like Rod Stewart". Yes, seems Rod was only called in as a session vocalist since the band didn't have anyone who could sing well enough. He was famously paid with a new set of car mats. Of course we only learned this years later. -

Yes. Donny was a major teen idol, or I should say tween idol. -

It's Oliver Cromwell's dismissal of Parliament, so I left it largely unedited. I just changed Ye to You, and made it first person plural instead of singular. Plus ça change ... -

Message for Sunak and the rest of the Tory Party. It is high time that we put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonoured by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice. You are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government. You are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money. Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? You have no more religion than a horse; gold is your God; which of you have not bartered your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth? You sordid prostitutes, have you not defiled this sacred place, and turned the Lord’s temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? You are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redressed, and are yourselves become the greatest grievance. Your country therefore calls upon us to cleanse this Augean stable, by putting a final period to your iniquitous proceedings in this House; and which by God's help, and the strength he has given us, we are now come to do. We command you therefore, upon the peril of your lives, to depart immediately out of this place. Go, get you out! Make haste! You venal slaves be gone! In the name of God, go! -
What a nice letter.

One Friday night I was waiting to go on the overnight ferry to France. They used to have entertainment on that sailing, usually a tribute band or something of that ilk. I asked who was on that night. "Edwin Starr" came the reply. Edwin fucking Starr !!!! He was great.- 186 replies
