I forgot to post this yesterday; my sincere apologies are proffered.

I know it's only three years ago that Sir Patrick Moore died aged 89 but as an amateur astronomer I remember it well.

I was surfing the web on a Sunday lunchtime with the BBC News Channel on TV in the background when it was announced Sir Patrick had died.

A couple of weeks later, in a local shop, I bumped into Dr Paul Abel (a regular contributor to The Sky at Night at the time) and asked him if the program would continue. He said he had reason to think it would and I discovered later that Dr Abel lives less than two minutes walk from where I live.

At the age of 58, or possibly 59, Sitting Bull, Chief and holy man of the Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux was shot and killed by agents of the Indian Service (an oxymoron if ever I heard one), this day 125 years ago.

Though I appreciate the prior posts, no love for Director Blake Edwards?

Breakfast at Tiffany's, Days of Wine and Roses, 10, etc?

Anyway, spouse Julie Andrews buried him 5 years ago today.

He is responsible for me posting full time on here. I used to lurk and make the occasional post. Then, one night, I had a dream I was on the Deathlist forum, and saw a post by Spade announcing that Blake Edwards had died. When I woke up, Edwards was still alive, but I thought I'd tell folk about this strange dream. He died less than two days later! Luckily, it wasn't Spade who updated the thread, as Magere Hein was quick to point out.

Coupled with my then suggestion that James Moody would be a good DDP pick for people - he died 12 hours later - I decided to bite the bullet and join the forum. I also entered the DDP, but mistyped the email, didn't get entered in time, and promptly saw half my ineligible team die, but that's another story.

10 years ago a heart attack would bring a very untimely end to actor John Spencer and, for all intents and purposes, the incredible show he was cast on (and the storyline had him taking over the show, so....), The West Wing.

God I miss that show.
