Hello... you may not beleve this but I am closely related to Don Knotts... and if you don't beleve it then, well too bad. You don't beleve the truth.

Anyhoooo... he is in the hospital but he is getting better. he is not going to die. I don't think.

thats all I can say, just to clear up things: HE IS NOT DEAD, HE IS NOT DIEING.

YOU LIED TO ME! YOU GAVE ME FALSE HOPES!

Don Knotts was a brilliant comedian, this is truly sad news.

Oh, will I? :P I've never seen it!! However, I have heard of him vaguely. Wrong thread again, anyway, Iain.

Sad to hear about McGavin though. Always good entertainment ;)

I guess that someone did not look at the threads before posting to the Near Misses thread. It is already mentioned right here.

Didn't Jim Nabors have a liver transplant like 10 years ago or something? Seems like I remember something about that. When is he gonna kick the bucket? Also, Don Knotts, Andy, they are really getting old, so here is a vote for one of them in 2005.

Thelma Lou is old and fat and that is that!

Who will be the next Mayberryite to pass on?

Knotts drops dead

He's down, folks.

I think a thread with the subtitle Don Knotts has died is quite enough notice for most people. Besides, most of us have Wiki Recent Deaths or Google News Search or something else to alert us, so it's not like you were bringing us a scoop. :P

Can we merge this with "Andy Griffith and Don Knotts" or vice-versa? I think it makes sense...

Also, apparentely Andy Griffith himself was healthy enough to be visiting Mr. Knotts in the hosptial on a regular basis, so it seems unlikely that he'll be dropping soon.

Or celebrity death beeper. Mind you they are a bit slow. They've only just reported Anthony Franciosa's death.

Never heard of Anthony Franciosa. Was he in the mafia?

Not sure how accurate this month old article on Andy Griffith is, can't find any other confirmation of it.

Looks like may have some piss and/or vinegar in him just yet.

No he was a sometimes actor of sorts He didd a great amount of televusion and movie work and was even at one time a jailbird. And then he done died. Died he did! That was backj in January of 2006 which is what handrejka was talking of when saying the beeper perple are a bit slow. More on old Tony can be found here at nndb.com FRANCIOSA

Excellent article on Andy Griffith - sounds okay to me - mind he's had a lot of heart attacks...
They give out those things by the lot? Who'da thunk it?!

And for essentially pointless to most people information I must indicate tha Hal Smith who portrayed loveable Otis Campbell hailed from Petoskey Michigan which is located just 93 miles southish of Brimley Michigan Brimley being located in Michigan's northern Peninsula, Petoskey being more attached to the southern mainland)

Not a good week for preformers called Mitch.... Mich Jayne, 80, bassist with wonderful folky/country/bluegrass band 'The Dillards', has died just two weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer.

Rather a tenuous link, but 'The Dillards' played a band called 'The Darlings' on the Andy Griffith show

Figured this thread would be more appropriate.

Andy Griffith has died aged 86.

I just heard the news while watching the Andy Griffith show which appears daily. Later I will watch Matlock but it will be a sad moment. Maybe it will be one of the more uplifting episodes where he buys a hot dog outside the courthouse. Hopefully and episode with Linda Purl.

Sad news . I met him briefly once. He didn't speak to me as they were in the middle of a shoot for Matlock. Although Kene Holliday spoke to me. I think his words were "ow that's my foot you just trod on"

Death Notice for Al Checco who was Don Knotts' comedy partner. He was 93. http://forestlawn.tributes.com/obituary/read/Al-Checco-102684725

Here's an episode (he plays Hennessy): https://youtu.be/sGbh8g3DAw0
