I should have started this with a bang and Andrea Crouch back early January, as this post isn't as juicy. But with nowhere else to really post it, let's give those who sing to The Lord their own forum.

Mark Hall, a member of the band Casting Crows has cancer of the kidney and plans to have it removed.

I think this new thread is covered by MPFC's Hymn Writers thread started back in 2005. As far as I know it's not been archived.

Dunno, you could be right, but I guess there's a difference. I don't expect much traffic in this topic, though, once the newness wears off.

A bit tenuous, but we'll take what we can get to beef up this thread.

Wade Jessen, senior chart manager of the Gospel/Christian music charts for Billboard, dies after a heart attack at 53.

Seriously? Um no, gospel music hasn't anything to do with hymnals, which has to be about the most obscure title I've seen listed. Is there a reason there is a "dead" symbol on this thread? Sadly others agreed with you that a Christian music artist is anything like a hymn composer. Do they honestly believe that? I'm having no problem finding at least one entry a month without even trying.

Hymnal writers--indeed. Yeah Andrea Crouch would've been mistaken for that, or any of the Winans, or Michael Smith, etc.

Pure poppycock.

The Los Angeles-based Grundy is best known for leading his ensemble, The Rickey Grundy Chorale. The group’s 1988 debut, Spirit Come Down, was followed by a self-titled album in 1990, both of which charted on the Billboard gospel chart.

Thousand Foot Krutch is requesting prayer for bassist Joel Bruyere, who is in the hospital with a collapsed lung. The torn lung needs surgery, but the doctors are unable to perform surgery until the lung improves. In the meantime, Joel is in the hospital and fans are invited to pray for healing.

This is part of what has been a rough summer for TFK, who lost their merch manager Montana Billings a few weeks ago. The news of Joel's hospitalization broke the same day as Montana's memorial service.

------

Get a load of this guy's picture! Mohawk skinhead looks like bassist more for the Misfits than Christian Rock band.

Randy Hongo, a beloved Christian recording artist and Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning musician (Hawaii's equivalent of the Grammys) died Saturday morning. He was 70 years old.

Kalihi Union Church senior pastor Jonathan Steeper said Hongo was on his way to a performance at a senior’s home in Honolulu with a choir and hula group when he collapsed.

Now THAT would be interesting, both piety and decadence all in one!

I’m well aware this has been haphazardly and sloppily posted in Deaths of 2018, but I’m posting it where it belongs, given the magnitude of the person in his industry.

Edwin Hawkins, the gospel star best known for the crossover hit Oh Happy Day and as a major force for contemporary inspirational music, died Monday at age 74.

Hawkins died at his home in Pleasanton, Calif. He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer.
