I think there's still life in Hélène Thornton-Bosmen (b 1934) who traded under a number of names in largely forgettable acting roles.

 

Her changing names and subsequent legging it to France make her hard to find online. Her one enduring claim to fame - that of being Paula Yates' mother - should earn her press coverage when she goes.

What makes a B-star immortal???

 

Ever since this post was made (4 months ago), many names has past.

I've checked them but appereantly they are ALL still alive.

While many big Hollywood-stars drop by the minute (Schreider, Renfro, Ledger, Minghella, Widmark, Scofield, Heston, Pollack). The only big B-movie stars who died this year and I can remember off were Vampira, Hazel Court & John Phillip Law. You'd think a star who never had the glory (and the MONEY) couldn't pay the medical bills.

 

Just an observation.

 

Mel Ferrer became quite a B-movie star in the 1970s and 1980s.

 

Last year, we had a ton of B-movie legends pass away. Andy Sidaris, Bruno Mattei, John P. Ryan, and Nicholas Worth all died in 2007.

 

In terms of who might die next, my predictions are Ray Harryhausen and Michael Gough, but that's probably more b/c of age than anything else.

Cirio H. Santiago, one of the most prolific B-movie filmmakers of the 20th century, has died of lung cancer at the age of 72.

 

When I was a kid, I remember going to my local mom & pop video store, and virtually every week, there's always a new video out by Cirio Santiago. So many memories ... this guy churned out numerous entertaining B-movies by the dozens. They range from post-apocalyptic Mad Mix rip-offs to martial arts kickboxing flicks, to Vietnam War era jungle movies. I had a ton of fun watching his movies.
