57-year-old Ethiopian dictator Meles Zenawi is reportedly suffering from a brain tumor and is gravely ill.

It is believed that Zenawi also suffers from Type II Diabetes, depression, and a lifetime of alcohol and tobacco abuse.

Wow, there's only a month between those two photos... Seems he's going down the tubes fast.

Quite. As dubious as I am about the journalistic standards of the Ethiopian press, there's something definitely wrong with him and he's had a few health problems in the past.

Coincidentally, the average life expectancy of Ethiopia is 58 so he's 90 in Ethiopia terms.

I don't think he's DeathList material, but I would put him on a DDP team.

He's maybe not as famous (or infamous) as, say, Mugabe, but his passing would be of major significance in Africa and would generate a lot of press coverage internationally

True, but his health is too-rumor based for a spot in my opinion.

Anxieties are rising in Ethiopia now, as the usually omnipresent Prime Minister has not been seen for some time... I can't see him making it to 2013.

Umaru Yar'Adua's successor is vice-president Goodluck Jonathan. He has not only a quite remarkable name, his clothing style could not be less presidential. He looks as something between a rapper and a blues star.

Patience Jonathan, Nigeria's first lady, has been in hospital in Germany for over a month. She is variously reported to be suffering from severe food poisoning, Parkinson's disease and uterine cancer. I guess you could surmise that she is unwell and I would have thought she'd stand a decent chance of a UK obit.

I'm sure he's been mentioned here recently - though search doesn't bring up anything - but Chadli BenJadid, President of Algeria from 1979 to 92, has died. Possibly of his unconfirmed cancer.

It does. The dye is cast. 2013 could already be shaping up to be a battle royale between the two best DDP teams...
