I've just heard Tony Blair's comments in full, and he did go on to mention Profumo's charity work ... some rather selective editing on the mid-day news on radio 2. :crossbone:

sounds a bit like the selective reporting of his Parkinson interview re God..I tuned in to the interview expecting bLAIR TO BE RAVING ON ABOUT how the good Lord determines his every move only o be bemused when the subject wa s only mentioned once briefly and only becausde Parky had raised the subject!

bollocks!

I forgot he was still alive until I had already made my picks for this year, then I signed up on this site and saw lots of people listed that I had totally forgotten about

Still, an inspired choice which has got DL the 3rd hit of 2006

maybe Profumos death will start a spate of deaths of elderly British politicians..Michael Foot must be abut ready to croak..if he makes it to his 93rd birthday in july he'll become the longest living leader of any of the 3 major political parties inthe UK (Jim Callaghan holds the current record, dying one day before his 93rd birthday).Somehow I dont think old Michael merits that acheivment...

Keep an eye on Ted Short (Labour Party Deputy Leader 1972-74).....

In addition: the BBC have wheeled out Lord Carrington for a tribute.

One for '07 I think.... :crossbone:

Resigned honourably, or Hobson's choice?

TF, Is that a clever pun on the fact that his wife was the actress Valerie Hobson, who starred with John Mills in "Great Expectations", or am I giving you undue credit?

Glad someone spotted it, yes it was deliberate. :crossbone:

Valerie Hobson was a great actress, she was also in "Kind Hearts and Coronets" and "The Bride of Frankenstein."

Going back to the headline, my effort is:

"The End of the Affair"

For those of you who haven't a clue, it was the title of a Graeme Greene novel I believe.

Not a great effort, but there you have it.

DWB :crossbone:

That happens whenever I go on holiday, perhaps if we both took the day off Mrs Thatcher might oblige us and snuff it?

It seems the Deathlist's third scream has been heard as politician John Profumo has

died of an apparent stroke.

It seems his 1961 affair was his main highlight.

This is Christine Keeler "And I didn't get the main headline untill just a second ago :crossbone: "

Congratulations to the Deathlist committee.

Very attractive.

Nice comments and try by Blair.

But the articles about his death highlight the affair, not the career of John Profumo.

Perhaps if the three of us went elsewhere, we'd have a whole slew of successes?!

Outside of DL success, I have no feelings whatsoever about Mr Profumo, but will wish him a somewhat belated Happy Eternity, wherever he now is...

:o JP

Some of the press coverage treated us to recent pictures of Christine Keeler who lives 'quietly' in North London. She looks as rough as a stray dog's rear end. She's not exactly a near-future contender but she stress and depression were written all over her face.

Wasn't she played by Alec Guinness?

It's been just over a week now and poor old Profumo still has no write up on the front page.

Has our esteemed leader gone AWOL?

Probably as fed up with it all as everyone else. :D

Well I suppose with many pointless threads and annoying members it does make sense to forget about it all for a while. There was even a time recently where I pretty much choose to be suspended.

If Grim Reaper had trouble finding the time to write the obituarys i'd love to have the job.

Of course I couldn't expect him to let it go. It is great writing an obituary about a person

dieing on your list and putting it up for all to see.
