Oh, and for the drunken college boy in you, I always recommend Snakes on a Plane.

How the hell did you find out about him? :):P

I saw the new Jimbo Bond flick the other day.

A cracking good movie compared to the usual mediocre Bond-franchise drivel.

"I've got an itch. Do you think you could scratch it for me?" :)

I watched the Big Lebowski for maybe the third time recently and every time it gets better. I also watched Duck Soup and found it remarkably disappointing (better in the memory). I still like the mirror scene though.

"Serenity" is very cool, but should be watched after the fourteen episode series "Firefly", if you like sci-fi, that is...

'Rabbits' - By David Lynch...."In a nameless city, deluged by a continuous rain, three rabbits live with a fearful mystery"

Like Watership Down on acid.

The dream/hallucination scene in the bowling alley is one of my favourite pieces of film ever. Kenny Rogers, of Kenny Rogers and the First Edition (before he got countryfied), sings the accompanying song don't you know.

"Slither" - a send-up of all those B-grade horror movies of the eighties, complete with language - the extras on the dvd are hilarious.

Gunjaman I feel you're a soul mate. We should meet up one day in Bangkok if it's ever playing there at the Bangkok Odeon and have a good laugh then fetch up at one of those bars where ladies fire eggs across the room and pull razor blades from discreet places.

It's not a new film, but I watched the 1948 Oliver Twist the other day on Film 4, with Alec Guinness as Fagin, the hammy Robert Newton (ooh arrghh!) as Sikes and even a boyish Anthony Newley as the Artful Dodger. Hattie Jacques had a small part (eh?) as a singing barmaid and according to the credits Diana Dors was in there somewhere but I can't say I noticed.

I'd never seen it before, but having re-read the book a few months back I thought I'd devote two hours and ten minutes of my life to give it a go. Glad I did, as the black and whiteness (?) really added to the atmosphere and it was almost just like being transported to the underbelly of Victorian England. Well, it was once I'd indulged in an exotic smoke or two.

The star of the show though was the dog that played Sike's Bullseye. The way it trembled and shook as his master beat Nancy to death was worthy of an Oscar for best supporting act by a canine. Brilliant. I'm off to look the dog up on this 'ere Interweb thingy...

Cheers,

BHB

Went to see 300 the other night - what a load of rubbish. Maybe it was based on a true story, but the actions of the Persian army, fresh off conquering the rest of the then-known world, allowing themselves to be sucked into a battle in which they send limited, and defeatable, waves of soliders into a narrow passageway defended by Spartan troops holding a massive home field advantage, never convinced for even a moment. And if I were about to commit high treachery, if not quite treason, in front of the Senate, I would probably not first line my pockets with gold coins bearing the face of the leader of the invading enemy. :(

Don't be like me and think "well, if this is worth seeing it's only worth seeing on the big screen." Save yourself the £/$8 - 10 and wait for it to come round on TV, or better yet on the 3 1/2" screen on the seat back in front of you.
