Coffey died at home Monday night in Shelbyville, Tennessee, the school said. He died after a long battle with cancer, according to the University of Tennessee, where Coffey was a three-year letterman and later an assistant coach. Much has been made in the Australian media of the progress that Jarred Hayne has made with the San Francisco 49érs as a kick returner/running back. The highlights of him running have been quite spectacular. But is the competition he is facing in these matches far inferior to that he would face in the main event? Even if it is I don't think you can discount his achievement. Considering that rugby league and gridiron are vastly different sports with few transferable skills, Hayne getting this far pays a great tribute to his athleticism and versatility. Sir Creep 7,013 Posted September 14, 2015 Found one that almost got away. Tag Ribary, a long-time member of the Seattle Seahawks front office, died Friday (Aug 28?) at the age of 48. The former Seahawks executive had parted ways with the franchise in May after working for the team since 2009. Ribary worked for Seattle as an assistant director of pro personnel from 1990-2000 before joining the Washington Redskins as director of pro personnel in 2001. After one year, Ribary became a pro scout for the Carolina Panthers until returning to Seattle. Then decided treating women like shit was a good idea. Meh, we all have our foibles :-| lol One more suicide for the books if anyone is keeping score at home. I love the idea of a suicide thread but apparently I'm in the minority. Coulda stuck this in Under 45 thread as well. Like many posts, they offer alternatives. Sir Creep 7,013 Posted September 16, 2015 CFL not exactly American Football, but same concept.Former Saskatchewan Roughriders star Stanley Williams, a standout player on both sides of the ball for the CFL team in the 1950s, has died. He was 85. Williams died last Sunday in Waco, Tex., the team said Tuesday in a news release. There was no immediate word on the cause of death. Goode received the formal diagnosis on August 11, 2015, after experiencing symptoms of rapid weight loss and muscle twitches for over a year. Dennis Morgan, a running back who played for the Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, went into cardiac arrest and was taken to Meadowlands Hospital, where he was declared dead. Morgan, nicknamed “Strawberry” for the large red Afro he sported, still holds the Cowboys’ record with a 98-yard touchdown return of a punt in 1974. Quincy Monk, who had 247 tackles and four sacks for the Tar Heels before being drafted in 2002 by the New York Giants, died at 36 years old. Monk died after a battle with adenocarcinoma, a form of cancer. Atkins was a four-time all-NFL selection who made eight Pro Bowl appearances during a 17-year NFL career with the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints. His 6-foot-8 frame created major matchup problems for opponents. Sir Creep 7,013 Posted January 10, 2016 Bart Starr (Packers QB great) recovering from a broken hip! Dammit I dropped him from all leagues this year. That's the death knell and he's falling apart. It's actually an interersting display of how these new injections that Starr, Howe, John Brodie, etc have received that allowed them to go from near death to leading a normal old person's life. I've been waiting to see the shelf life of those injections. If Starr (the first of the bunch to receive them) drops later this year, that is about 1.5-2.5 years life expectancy.
