Queen Elizabeth II

Prince Charles is slowly being readied to take over . Is she i'll or just wants retirement, maybe as so many people have said on here including me she and Philip will die within a year of each other.

He needs to take over now. I'm getting so bored of the annoying cow who has only lasted this long by being a faceless opinionless diplomat, I want a guy who is willing to have a moan about things....... like bloody carbuncles......

This is missing the point. Charles has the freedom to express his opinions because he is not the monarch when he inherits he will be expected to be constrained by his constitutional role.

These were the shutters referred to previously!

She might still abdicate. She hasn't actually said she won't.

Royal commentators put too much significance on the 1936 abdication: there is a great difference between a forty-something year old playboy abdicating after less than a year for entirely selfish reasons, and thus handing the crown to a brother who should not have inherited it; and an 88 year old woman, abdicating after 62 years due to old age, and handing the crown to the King-in-waiting for the last 62 years.

I'd hope that if she doesn't go before, she'll abdicate at 90.

She'll want Victoria's record first I reckon...

I think it's due in September 2015.

It was the PM of the time who was being unreasonable, the Church of England was formed to allow for divorce, Wallis Simpson should have been accepted as his wife and been done with the issue.

Given Wallis had pro-Nazi sympathies, a bullet well dodged there.

I watched the Queen's speech yesterday for the first time in years. She sounded quite tired/lethargic IMO.... maybe she's a bit less healthy/sturdy than we all thought.

The Queen is supposedly very upset at the possibility of losing Scotland. I suppose the new royal baby will be a nice substitute for her and keep her ticking along for a while longer yet.

EDIT: Already being discussed here: http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8407&view=findpost&p=211648

I don't really understand why everyone is looking to the Queen to intervene in this political matter.

After all, isn't that what the Prince of Wales is for?

She's won Scotland but lost the Cup: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-09-26/queens-horse-stripped-of-gold-cup-place/5770474

I think the cup would have been the better prize of the two....

The horse didn't win anyway, it came in second.

To be honest I'm starting to think her majesty is immortal. At 86 she's still passable for a 70 year old.

QE2 is now the world's oldest like ving monarch after the Saudi Arabian sheikh's death. She will also beat Queen Vic's record as longest-reigning British monarch if she survives until September): http://www.skynews.com.au/news/showbiz/celebrity/2015/01/24/queen-elizabeth-now-oldest-monarch.html

She will easily become the longest British Monarch, i'd be amazed if she died before September, her Mum lived until she was almost 102 years of age and i wouldn't be surprised if she lived as long as her, in fact i think she will live to be about 105 years old, so pencil her in for the 2031 death list. Lets be honest though she should live to a grand age as she has never had to work properly like the rest of us, she has the best medical care and enough money to last 10 lifetimes.

As far as I'm aware the Queen isn't smoking a duty free pack a day.
