Harold W. Andersen, the former publisher of Nebraska’s largest daily newspaper and first American to be president of the International Federation of Newspaper Publishers, has died. He was 92.

Nigel Buxton, dead at the age of 91. Qualifies for this thread via being a major travel writer for 30 years (editing the Sunday Telegraph's travel section), but for anyone between the age of 30 and 45 is much better known as the Adam and Joe Show's "BaaadDad".

Worked for Hoover for 10 years, left because of the anti-Communist agenda pursued by Hoover and became a journalist. Investigated the assassination of JFK and became convinced it was a conspiracy. Also worked with Jim Garrison on the prosecution of Clay Shaw in connection with the assassination. Author of books on this and also Robert Kennedy's assassination.

Timothy Gilson Foote, editor, author, former Time-Life foreign correspondent and longtime Aquinnah and Chilmark seasonal resident, died Dec. 21 in Beaverkill, N.Y. He was 89 and recently had fallen ill with mesothelioma, acquired when he was a Naval Reserve radio operator on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific in World War II.

Acel Moore, 75, a Pulitzer Prize-winning Philadelphia Inquirer reporter, editor, and columnist who changed the way the newspaper and others cover the black community while encouraging young people from minority backgrounds to enter and succeed in the profession he loved, died unexpectedly at his Wyncote home Friday evening.

Formula One journalist and former Autoweek contributor Alan Henry has died after a long illness at the age of 68. Henry worked for several European publications during his career, including Barclay's International, Motoring News, Autocar and The Guardian. He covered Formula One for four decades and attended as estimated 650 F1 races.

Lawrence Van Gelder, who worked in the newsrooms of five New York City newspapers over 55 years, most of them as a critic, columnist and editor at The New York Times, died on Friday at his home in Manhattan. He was 83. The cause was leiomyosarcoma, a rare cancer.

Peggy Girshman, an Emmy Award-winning health-care journalist who co-founded the Washington-based news service Kaiser Health News in 2008 and helped build the nonprofit into a media organization of national scope, died March 14 at her home in Silver Spring, Md. She was 61. The cause was complications from amyloidosis, a condition of abnormal protein production and deposition in organs.

Man, lots of NPR folks this year in't?

Aziz Alwan, a veteran Iraqi journalist who covered the Iraq war for The Washington Post and National Public Radio and served as a resourceful in-country guide to international reporters, died March 29 in Baghdad. He was 57.

Mr. Alwan died after he was taken to a Baghdad hospital for treatment of stomach problems, his family said.

For those too young to remember, World in Action was a current affairs show, back when ITV had programmes worth watching.

He made the long list for Gris Gris team but he simply wasn't old enough to crack the roster. No one under 60 made the team, and only a couple under 70 like Sirhan Sirhan for obvious reasons.

Italian journalist Emiiano Liuzzi died on April 6th aged 46 and journalist Stefano di Michele died on 16th April aged 56. 6 plus 10 and 46 plus 10, amazing. Two Communist journalists less, so these are not sad demises.
