3 Derby's.

Not as natural as Cauthon or Eddery, but he didn't drop out as much as them either.

55ffs :(

It says that he had epilepsy.

I could have sworn that he had been in a serious accident in the past?

Edit: He did, Hong Kong 1996.

That could have had a bearing on his overall health, I suppose.

Every jockey of his age would've been blounced.

The jump boys have it worse, but, fuvk me, brave cunts.

Red Marauder, winner of the 2001 Grand National (in which only 4 finished) dead aged 26.

That's three Grand National winners' deaths inside a year...

And another - Lord Gyllene, who won the 1997 'Monday National' (ridden by the aptly-named Tony Dobbin) by miles after bomb threats postponed Saturday's race. He was 28.

Oh, that's a shame. Only a few months to go before the 50th anniversary of Foinavon's Grand National, and there are plans afoot to celebrate it in the village where he was trained.

Bloody hell.

The three-time Derby winner and Shergar rider was found by his father in the courtyard of his London home.

I could have sworn Wally was dead. He's 80 now ....

Watching Cheltenham (at work for work purposes, rather than putting Mr Power's grandkids through uni). Nicky Henderson looks like absolute shit, has the bloated greyness of a drowned corpse.

Imperial Commander, 2010 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, dies of a heart attack aged 16.

Beat Denman into second place, in what some called the 'title decider' between Denman & Kauto Star.

I got Saint Are in the pub sweepstake for tomorrow's Grand National.   Second two years ago, and better ground for him than last year.

And Measure of my Dreams in the sweepstake at the other pub.  Probably needs a Foinavon-style fluke.

Good for you.  I bet I know someone else who backed it too.

I may be into a small profit sweepstake-wise as good old Saint Are ran into a place again.  The other donkey fell at The Chair, I think.

2000 National winner Papillon flies away

And if you want a (vaguely) more human addition to the thread, I hear that long-time racing journo David Ashforth hasn't got long for this world.
