Muhammad Ali

What's the consensus on his health. I'm wondering weather or not to change his colour coding to red (very close) on my long list for 2013 or not...??? How long do you think he can or can't keep going? I'm not really too familiar with Parkinson's.

I'd be surprised if he made it to 75. I'd definitely keep on eye on him, even if he's not on the brink of death.

Muhammad Ali isn't going to die anytime soon and neither will his public appearances\autograph sessions. I doubt that he would be able to step in the ring with someone like George Foreman but if he is too jittery to sign on the dotted line at an autograph session maybe he could give someone a left hook to the abdomen instead and some fans would sign up for that. The two members who contributed above this post probably wouldn't be able to withstand a shot from the legendary Muhammad Ali and that's why he wouldn't want to hit them.

The fact is that Parkinson's progresses over time and largely reduces life expectancy. Ali has been showing symptoms of Parkinson's since he was 38, and he is now in his early 70's. Doesn't matter how hard he can punch me in the gut.

He could be the face of a new ad campaign - for Dignitas. Compare him in his prime to how he is now, amazed he finds the will to live

He puts the will to live down to his religion and still speaks out - as much as he can - about it. Did so to David Frost earlier this year.

Even so, it's pretty safe to assume that this will his last olympics.

Hard to say. Do the Russians have a decrepit boxer of their own to wheel out at the Sochi Winter Games in 2014?

Hein

I knew an old friend of our family who had Parkinson's disease and in his case he suffered for a long time but the end stage of his illness was quite swift. I would say various advances in treatment will stretch this out, but the end will still come sooner than many will predict.

From what I saw on Friday, I think Muhammad Ali will be on all my longer lists from now on.

Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali is so ill he could be dead within days, his brother has warned.

Rahman Ali said the former heavyweight champion cannot speak and no longer recognises him.

Rahman fears his 71-year-old brother - known as The Greatest - may not survive the summer.

He told The Sun: 'He's in a bad way. He's very sick.

'It could be months, it could be days. I don't know if he'll last the summer. He's in God's hands.'

........

Rahman, who was also a professional boxer, said he last saw his brother in July at the Sports for Peace Gala in London and is only allowed to speak to him over the phone.

Make of that what you will. Of course there's no doubt he's very ill, and he could feasibly die very soon, but I'm not convinced this brother is in the best position to know.

I have put him back into my Rotten Dead Pool team though.

Looks safe to say his brother may as well be a National Enquirer writer. Though not in great shape (which goes without saying) Ali doesn't look any worse than before - probably a bit better than how he appeared at last year's Olympics.

Looks fine to me.

From WAVE 3 Louisville... "One of Muhammad Ali's daughters is addressing rumors that Ali is near death. May May Ali says her father is fine and watching the Super Bowl (or he was until the lights went out). In fact, the Ali family released this photo of The Greatest watching the game in his Ravens gear."

The fact he has lived this long allready against all the odds means he will probably live for many more years to come.the deathlist council was right not to put him on this years list

I might consider the great Muhammad Ali for 2014 but I don't know. I'm waiting for him to reappear on the main list but I'm sure the committee will give him a shot as a primed candidate eventually.

He will definitely be in my 2014 team (if he is still eligible) he was third highest pick out of 400 names on my works competition (same number of picks as DOE & Nelson but fewer jokers).

Recent pic of Ali with a Irish plumber.

Looks a little worse than the pic a couple of posts above , though still think he will live at least another 3 years .
