2 other British actresses for consideration for their advanced years who, as far as i can see, have not been considered before are Muriel Pavlow (Kenneth Moores wife in Reach For The Sky) and Jean Kent (Michael Redgraves wife in the Browning Version) both a sprighty 91....then theres always Barbara Murray, Sally Ann Howes and Glynis John all in their 80s.

No reason to suspect imminent death but...

The Alexander Brothers (b. 1934 and 1935) have no tour dates listed online and are aging Scotsmen...two words which can be synonymous with life threatening.

And, we surely have to put Sam Bacile (widely named as the writer/producer behind the film that currently - ahem - slaying them in the middle-east), somewhere near the top of next year's picks.

http://www.telegraph...s-in-Libya.html

Although, his exact identity, and age, remains a mystery.

I wonder exactly how many of the rioters have actually WATCHED the film. My guess would be about a handful.

Esther (b.1941) & Abi (b.1937) Ofarim. Israeli singers who had a UK No.1 hit in the late sixties with Cinderella Rockafella. Apparently after they divorced Abi did have issues with drug and alcohol addiction.

Those of you who are old enough to remember this will be cursing me for weeks for even mentioning it but a warning to the under 35s - under no circumstances allow your curiosity to get the better of you and look this up on YouTube. :old:

More on the mystery film-maker linked below.

Re Esther and Abi Ofarim; I can recommend her solo album In London a genuine curio that's been getting heavy airplay in my office recently.

When I was growing up there were only a small number of 7" singles in the house and they received extensive playing. There was this, Ob-li-de, Ob-li-da by the Marmalade, Twelfth of Never by Donny Osmond and Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell all of which have scarred me for life.

Speaking on intolerance and America I notice that Pat Boone (b.1934) is still alive. With the election on the horizon is he due to make some more wisdom filled observations on the current president?

Politics

Boone campaigned for Ronald Reagan to become Governor of California in 1966 and 1970, and actively supported Reagan's bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 1976. He was a vocal supporter of the Vietnam War. In 2006, Boone wrote an article for WorldNetDaily, in which he argued that Democrats and others who were against the president during the Iraq War could be questioned for their patriotism.[24] He was interviewed by Neil Cavuto on Fox News, where he expressed his outrage toward opponents of George W. Bush (in particular the Dixie Chicks). He said that their criticisms of the president showed they did not "respect their elders".[25]

In the 2007 Kentucky gubernatorial election, Boone campaigned for incumbent Republican Ernie Fletcher with a prerecorded automated telephone message stating that the Democratic Party candidate Steve Beshear would support "every homosexual cause." As part of the campaign, Boone asked, "Now do you want a governor who'd like Kentucky to be another San Francisco?"[26] More recently, he assisted the McCain 2008 presidential campaign by lending his voice to automated campaign phonecalls.

On December 6, 2008 Boone wrote an article for WorldNetDaily wherein he drew analogies between recent gay rights protests and recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India. He reminded readers of hostage taking, exploding bombs, systematic murder and chaotic conditions of carnage. In it, he asserted that marriage is a biblically ordained institution, which the government has no part in defining. He then stated that equal rights for women and blacks were not "obtained by threats and violent demonstrations and civil disruption" but rather through due process. He concluded by warning that unless they're checked, the "hedonistic, irresponsible, blindly selfish goals and tactics of homegrown sexual jihadists will escalate into acts vile, violent and destructive".[27]

On August 29, 2009, Boone wrote an article comparing liberalism to cancer, likening it to "black filthy cells".[28]

In December 2009, Boone agreed to endorse the conservative U.S. congressional candidate John Wayne Tucker ® for his campaign in Missouri's 3rd Congressional District against incumbent Russ Carnahan (D) for the 2010 mid term elections.[29]

In 2009, Boone stated his belief that Barack Obama is not eligible to serve as the President of the United States.[30][31] Boone also has stated that Barack Obama is fluent in Arabic and read the Koran in Arabic as a boy.[30] He has also stated that President Obama "hasn’t celebrated any Christian holidays in the White House."[30]

Boone received a lifetime achievement award at the 38th annual Conservative Political Action Conference held in February 2011.[32]

I was tempted to put this in "The Chequered Flag" thread but I think it deserves a wider audience for DDP list compiling purposes. Attended the Goodwood Revival this weekend and with that and inside knowledge, here is OoO's DDP guide for Grand Prix motor racing possibilities;

John Surtees - every time I see Big John now, he looks worse and worse. Obviously son Henry's death has attributed to this, but he's aged 10 years in two (was watching a programme from 2010 last week). Not exactly frail, but he looks ill, sounds poorly and looked confused. A dark horse for anyone's DDP - obit certain. 7/10

Sir Stirling Moss - for the first time, I've seen him look aged. He now has to use a walking stick to walk around with - legacy of his lift fall which he's never really shaken off. That said, despite fraility, he looks well, mentally with it and I would probably consider him more for 2015. 6/10

Murray Walker - seems indestructible. Will be 90 next year and still commentating, still looks well. Mother lived to be 102, and I think he'll be around for a few more years at least. 4/10

Dan Gurney - looked frail, but otherwise okay. Well enough to travel to the UK - I don't think he'll trouble the DDP scoring for a few years yet, but he's clearly aged in the last two years. 3/10

Others to consider

Obits certain;

Sir Jack Brabham (age, frailness), 6/10

Tony Gaze (increasingly frail, 93 in February, now a widower - will get broadsheet obits for his WW2 service), 7/10

Frolian Gonzalez (okay, bar increased fraility), 5/10

Jean-Pierre Beltoise (He looked dreadful at a recent reunion - may've been an off-day as not aware of any illness) 4/10

JJ Lehto (outside bet - has drink problems, has been in jail, will he struggle once out - suicidal tendencies etc as work will dry up...)

4/10

Obit strong possibility;

Kenneth McAlpine - Connaught driver/founder from 1950's, but it's his non-racing work that should get broadsheet obit. 93 next year and very frail 7/10

John Fitch - 96 years of age and looks frail. Seems very well though, especially for his age.6/10

Obit unlikely/struggle but definitely ill;

Paul England - one time GP starter, in VERY ill health. Engine tuner in Australia, but I can't see a UK obit at all. 1/10

Leo Kinnunen - a massive stroke has led to health problems over the last few years. But despite sportscar success, an obit is a push. 3/10

Al Pease - 92 next year, has had a stroke recently and definitely fading. Timing will need to be right for tiny mention in the press (say, Canadian GP time) 2/10

John Campbell-Jones, 83 next year and getting increasingly frailer every time I see him. 2/10

What about Guy Ligier? Must be getting on and never one to stay slim and fit. Also Robin Herd, always seemed a bit rotund. Is John Thompson still going, lovely chap who showed Ferrari how to build racing cars circa 1973. Not one for the list but did the guy in the Italian cowboy hat that Sky Sport's Ted Kravitz bumped in Monza look a lot like Arturio Mezarrio?

How about Robert Kubica, seemingly the current era's Andrea de Cesaris. He suffered another rally mishap the other day.

That's because it WAS Merzario. He wears that hat everywhere.

Ligier is a little more frail now - he uses a walking stick but still makes reunions. To be fair, rotund doesn't really make a difference - look at Gonzalez (mentioned above). A porker, but a porker about to be in his 90's. AJ Foyt is a huge blubbering mass of a man now, but he's still going strong.

Cheers for that OoO. I've been putting together a motorsport theme team for next year's DDP of late. Confirms some of those I'd already added

Murray's an interesting one. Over the last couple of years he has gone downhill a bit - he's certainly no longer as sharp as he was even when he retired. But he still gets around, and I believe his mother reached 100, so it would be a brave pick for an overall DDP team

How's Mauro Forghieri doing these days? He's 77 now. And on a similar designer-related note, Ron Tauranac is 87 now. Also I think Sir Frank Williams would be a good shout, as he seems to be getting increasingly frail

The one I don't think will get an obit but is almost certain to go soon is Darrell Eastlake, the Australian commentator, who has Alzheimer's, dementia and emphysema

Michael J. Fox will die soon according to the National Enquirer.

As you were...

The National Enquirer likes to exaggerate.

You are not kidding.

This is lazy journalism of the worst kind.

It lists potential complications from Parkinson's disease and then extrapolates that MJF will suffer from them.

Has MJF been hospitalised at all recently.

The National Enquirer does get published in the UK but I am not aware of anyone who reads/buys it.
