David Sime, silver in the 100 yards at the '60 final, and former WR holder in a few of the sprints.

100 yards? it's the 100 metres. There's an extra 28 foot (or 9.33 yards) difference between the two.

Wonder if that makes a difference in rot times if you get buried at 6' (2 yards) vs 2 metres.

Only if there are any utility pipes further down.

Aye fair 'nuff it was the Olympics. The Commonwealth games of that era were still yards, but I think the WR's he held were the yard ones.

How else would they get a honkey below 10 secs?

Interestingly, I posted the death of that druggie Houston McTear last year, and he still has the unofficial WR for the 100 yards, a hand timed 9.0.

It appears (as per search box) no one has bothered to post Bill Johnson's obit, just complain he was somehow a 'miss'.

Bill Johnson, the 1984 Olympic downhill skiing champion who later suffered permanent brain damage in a violent crash, died Thursday in Oregon. Johnson’s thrilling downhill win at the Sarajevo Games at age 23 was the first Olympic medal by an American man in skiing’s fastest discipline. The feat was matched 10 years later by Tommy Moe.

------

He just couldn't wrap his head around the fact skiing on a hill with trees at the bottom was a bad idea.

Ah, first hit on the Sun Wukong for me. He was also someone I occasionally considered for the DDP, as I was aware of his poor health and he was youngish and sure to obit. But there was no telling how much longer he'd be lingering, and another team has been going with him for a few years now, so he never really got close to the final cut.

Not sure if this has previously made news on here, but I can't be arsed looking at this time of night. Just came across this on the BBC website. Apparently, France reckons there's a 'London 2012 curse' as 18 athletes have died in the ensuing 4 years since. All athletes names are provided, complete with helpful details of their causes of death. Clearly bollocks, but then we are in the business of predicting deaths so any flimsy patterns are worth knowing/exploring naturally...

^^^ 'Commonwealth'.....'Commonwealth'...

Hospitalised thread for this pish.

Can't believe they've raised a hundred grand already for her medical bills, because her travel insurance had expired.

Tough shit. She was no longer travelling, but employed. Pay your bills ya skank afore getting your overly long skirt caught in a wheel .

Zero sympathy .

what if she can't afford the medical bills herself and they could be more than her just not paying.

Being in a coma and fighting for your life would be a critical condition, not serious.

I'm surprised she didn't have her own medical insurance.
