Sir Creep 7,011 Posted July 20, 2016 New Delhi, July 20th: The hockey legend and former India captain Mohammed Shahid lost his battle with severe illness and died Wednesday morning. He was 56. Shahid, member of the Moscow Olympics 80 gold medal-winning Indian team, was in coma and was put on ventilator at Gurgaons Medanta Hospital. He was suffering from multi-organ failure and couldnt come out of coma According to my country the 1980 Moscow Olympics never in fact happened so maybe this is misplaced. The Americans refused to accept the silver medals so technically this obit is misplaced. Dwight Jones, a big man who played for a decade in the NBA and represented the United States in the 1972 Olympics, passed away earlier this week at 64 years old. Jones, perhaps the greatest high school player in Houston history, had been battling a heart ailment for several years. A first-round pick of the Atlanta Hawks in 1973, Jones would go on to play for his hometown Rockets, as well as the Bulls and Lakers. The game was stopped - apparently over - in mid-play with the Americans one point ahead. Then there was an announcement that the timing was misread and there were three seconds still to play, gifting the Russians a re-start from the backline with the certain knowledge that one desperately slung ball and a final scoring attempt could win the game if it worked, which it did. Former British Olympic champion Chris Boardman, working as an expert analyst for BBC Sport, says the Rio course was "too dangerous". "I'm really just waiting for news on Van Vleuten; it's very hard to concentrate when you see crash like that," he said. "I'm actually quite angry because I looked at the road furniture and thought nobody can crash here and get up. This was way past technical, this was dangerous." News just in that she is conscious and on the way to hospital. Edit as of 10 pm British summer time... The International Cycling Union (UCI) - cycling's governing body - said in statement released later on Sunday that Van Vleuten was "conscious and able to communicate". As healthy as Martin Peters, then . Just saw it too. The crashes yesterday and today suggest that course was devised more for how it would look on television than any sense of whether it was a good cycling route. One post-accident statement suggested there was "no serious medical problem."
