    The Dead Of 2012

http://photos.nj.com/star-ledger/2012/01/joe_paterno_dead_at_85_8.html http://www.marketwatch.com/story/legendary-coach-joe-paterno-dead-at-85-cbs-sports-2012-01-21?link=MW_latest_news http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/21/joe-paterno-dead-ex-penn-state-football-coach_n_1221289.html?ref=college Though the family is denying the death, the AP reported earlier this week that he was hospitalized and in serious condition due to complications of lung cancer, which the family confirmed. What is unquestionable is that JoePa is seriously, seriously ill, if he's even still alive. And given the lung cancer + the stress from his firing earlier this year for the child-rape scandal at Penn State, he's a certainty for sometime this year, if not the next few days or hours.

http://www.npr.org/2010/12/11/131938583/ba...rs-gives-thanks Don't know if she would get an obit in the U.K., but if she would she's almost 100% certain to pass on for next year. http://www.robinrogers.com/

    John Wooden

http://espn.go.com/ -- to see how well known he is. He's also a trending topic on Google (Then again, so is Krispy Kreme). Quote from a Pat Forde (ESPN) writer: "You could take him to the big city and make him a globally worshipped coaching icon, but you could never take the small-town Indiana out of John Wooden..." Globally worshipped? It should come as no surprise that we Americans could take someone famous here and claim them as a "globally worshipped icon" when they don't even get an obit in other industrialised countries.

    Etta James

Etta James, a person I haven't seen posted elsewhere yet... http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/2...dex.html?hpt=T2 Apparently has Alzheimers and MRSA . . . not in good shape. --- "Right now she is very confused," her son said. He described his mother as "quite combative ... fighting, biting -- I'm talking way off the chart." "I am going to end up losing my mother if it keeps going on like this," he said. Donto James said he's hoping for more information about his mother's condition. "There has to be another doctor out there who can tell me what is going on with my mother," he said.

    Deathlist 2011

Sun Myung Moon (aka "The Messiah" and leader of the "True Family") is someone to keep an eye on. Haven't found anything on his health yet, but he's turning 90 on January 6th and he's been passing control of all of his assets (including the religious cult "Unification Church", and the Washington newspaper he owns) to his sons. If not in 2010, certainly one to keep on the radar for the next . . .

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2010

Maybe Muhammad Ali? Muhammad Ali visits Irish ancestral home http://www.reuters.com/article/peopleNews/...E5805HZ20090901 ..."Ali, who has been battling Parkinson's disease for years, was made an honorary freeman of the town at a reception broadcast on screens for hundreds of fans outside the building, and local schools had a half day off for the occasion. Television showed a frail-looking Ali, who is in Ireland for charity events, making boxing moves to fans. Frail Muhammad Ali meets Henry Cooper on 'final' tour of Britain http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12...ur-Britain.html ..."Ali, 67, who has lived with Parkinson's Disease since 1984, received a standing ovation from the crowd. The three-times world champion, now 67, has embarked on a tour of the UK which experts fear could be his last.... Muhammad Ali Visits Ricky Hatton's Gym http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/the_sport...cky_hattons_gym ..."Most of the pieces written about this today have pointed out that Ali is looking very frail at the moment, which is indeed the case. He’s rarely on his feet anymore, usually seen in a wheelchair or a golf cart, although he did manage to walk into Hatton’s gym with some help from his wife, Lonnie. He also doesn’t speak anymore, either, and yet whenever this fact is mentioned anywhere in print, it is quickly followed by a reminder that “his eyes take in everything.” One wonders how we can be so sure of such a thing when the man himself is mute, but evidently it is important for us to believe that it is true."

Not sure if she's been listed yet, but Farrah Fawcett is apparently fighting intestinal cancer. While it had gone away, it apparently is back with a vengeance. She's currently 62 years old. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/artic...-fights-on.html
