Didn't Jim Nabors have a liver transplant like 10 years ago or something? Seems like I remember something about that. When is he gonna kick the bucket? Also, Don Knotts, Andy, they are really getting old, so here is a vote for one of them in 2005.

Thelma Lou is old and fat and that is that!

Who will be the next Mayberryite to pass on?

Good point, it looks like the three you mentioned are the only ones still going.

Don Knotts - 81 this year

Andy Griffith - 79 this year

Jim Nabors - 75 this year

Jim did have a liver transplant back in 1994, he seems to be doing fine now though. Don seems to be really healthy, he is scheduled for two upcoming movies.

Andy, on the other hand, had a quadruple bypass back in 2000. I would think that Andy would easily be famous enough with his 2 hit shows, this one, and Matlock. Don also might make the cut, depending on how famous "Threes Company", and "Andy Griffith" were in the UK.

Try 'not famous in the slightest.'

Did you have that Derek Griffiths site bookmarked by any chance? A strange thing to just "happen" across if you ask me B)

Never heard of Andy Griffith either, who is he and what does he do?

He played the eponymous hero in a US TV series called Matlock from the late 80's.

We get repeats of it here in the afternoons. Mrs. N. likes to watch it sometimes when she's doing the ironing.

I don't know if it was ever on in the UK.

His show from the early 60s can be seen on TV Land very frequently "Andy Griffith Show". Also, Matlock reruns air on the WGN.

Apparently Don Knotts is NOT doing so well. CNN reported tonight that an upcoming homecoming celebration in his hometown of Morgantown, West Virginia has been put on hold. The report said that the 81 year old actor is too "frail" to travel.

Tabloid says this week that Knotts is nearly blind from macular degeneration and has undergone surgery for a serious bowel obstruction, has developed complications. While his death does not appear to be iminent, his days of tv appearances and public events appear to be over.

Oh right. Megastars then. Voice of "Groundsman" in Scooby Doo....

"I would have gotten away with it, if it weren't for those pesky kids!"

You might well have done, Mr Groundsman, had you simply stuck to benefit fraud and shop-lifting, instead of dressing up in that rather suspect costume as the Ghostly Kiddie-Fiddler of Plonker Park to steal the buried treasure hidden under the public toilets by Old Mrs MacGobshite of Bell End House.
