    Nancy Reagan

    Regarding Nancy Reagan, I think she passes the famous enough test...mainly because she was Velcro'ed to her husband's side. I do agree with the earlier post that we Americans are a bit insular in that we don't know as much about other countries. I think Raisa Gorbachev, as a former non US first lady would have passed the famous enough test. If she hadn't already passed of course.

    If one is looking for nominations for the 2006 list has Joan Fontaine been mentioned? Although I think she and her sister Olivia de Haviland are trying to outlive one another because they know their obituaries will read "...sister of..."
