Crashing Companies

Recommended Posts

Hastings Entertainment has set the closure all of its stores in a liquidation, according to court documents filed this week.

The retail chain — which sells everything from DVDs and Blu-rays, books, CDs, toys, T-shirts and other collectibles — is planning a series of clearance sales at all of its locations. That sale is set to end Oct. 31 at the latest.

In June, the Amarillo-based Hastings Entertainment filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and announced it was seeking a buyer.

The company found that buyer Wednesday in Hilco Merchant Resources and Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, however the joint venture looks to liquidate the stores.

Dr. Neil Warren resigns as CEO of eHarmony. Article says competent folks stepping up, and that business model is in flux.

I still say you chop the head of the company off things will get messy.

SC

I wondered why I hadn't seen their adverts on TV for a while, seems to be mostly adverts for Match. Christian Mingle, and Farmers Only these days

haha Farmer's Only, what an inbred wholly-American concept. I still think it HAS to be some kind of joke some billionaire is running every time I see one of those spots.

No one kicks out of the leg drop, brother.

And no one collects on a judgment against a bankrupt company, brother.

Macy's closing 68 stores. No parades today :-(

SC

That's also probably going to mean the rapid intensifying of the death spirals of most of the malls those were anchor stores in, too.

In other news, KMart is closing 10 stores including the original one in Garden City, MI, and the Plymouth, MI location where Sir Creep worked for about four months when he was 20 or so. Furthermore, it is part of a 150-store closing that Sears/KMart are doing early 2017!

So much for retail in Murica. I'll have to buy everything at the dollar store.

Their problem is that it's so much more convenient to order something from Amazon then send it back 3-4 more times at your own packing expense until you get the right size

With regards to some high street stores over here that would still be cheaper.

Yeah and then 9 months later you're well-dressed enough to leave the house

How the hell that "unabomber" guy somehow thought he had a point or something, I have no fucking clue.

They're closing a lot more than that. Sears are also closing several stores too.

Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus closing up the tent after 146 years.

SC

Kids today have other interests and so many other fun things to choose from. Parents dislike the animal abuse issues as well. Surprised circuses like this one have lasted so long. Not high-tech enough for many younger people.
