Bit late to the punch, but apparently Lee Kerslake's health has deteriorated in recent months. Alphonse Mouzon, a drummer from Charleston who reached the pinnacle of the late-20th century jazz and soul scene, died on Christmas Day after a struggle with neuroendocrine cancer. He was 68. By the 1970s, he was performing with some of jazz music’s greatest artists: McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard and many others. He was briefly a member of the seminal fusion band Weather Report, and signed as a solo artist to Blue Note Records in 1972, according to the music site SoulTracks. By the 1990s, Mouzon was playing other styles of music with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Carlos Santana.
