THIS could be the biggest legal shake up to top end football since Mark Bosman won his court case. Portsmouth landlady wins in European Court of Justice after being prosectuted for showing Premier League live in her pub via a - much cheaper than Sky - Greek broadcaster.

Given the reliance of the top clubs on television money and the ability of foreign broadcasters to undercut them, this could get highly entertaining. News Corp's share price, the finances of a number of highly stretched top end clubs and the lawyers who'll come forward to insist long contracts guaranteeing their charges £150,000 a week or more MUST be honoured will now be very prominent in news coverage.

Well, yes, she may have 'won' but its still unlikely she (or any other pub) will be allowed to show matches via imported decoders because of copyright issues. I await the ruling from British courts during ratification of the EU ruling with interest.

Hopefully Sky will be forced to price their domestic coverage at a more realistic (i.e. cheaper) level.

Sky's prices are disgusting to be honest . I would happily pay 10 to 14 pound a month for just the sports channels but apparently i have to subscribe to a bunch of other channels i don't want for 21 pound a month too. F##k them i will watch streams online.

Exeter City have just signed goalie Lenny Pidgeley, a move creating much mirth amongst fans of his former club in Carlisle. The man's ability to "do a job" for clubs based miles away from London has been compromised in the past by his dual fondness for driving flash cars and drinking alcohol.

Keep us posted DDT, the consensus at Carlisle could be summed up with the words "Waste of space."

Sir Leonard of Pidgeley came on as a sub for the last ten minutes against Carlisle today and pulled off a wonderful save with his first touch of the ball.

Other than that, the match was a fairly uneventful 0-0 draw. 178 travelling Carlisle fans who no doubt will have had a fun day with a closed M5 motorway adding to the joys of a 700 mile round trip. They gave Lenny an emotional reception when his name was announced on the tannoy.:D

Aye, I've already swapped emails with a couple of those 178 witnesses to Pidgeley's heroics, and that after he took audible stick from the Blue Army as he trotted on. General consensus he was unrecognisable from the flapping disaster we paid to watch. Was 50/50 whether I'd make it myself. Well on the way last night but stopped to toast some bread and warm marshmallows on the M5 before the filth told us to move on. Fuckin' spoilsports.

Brilliant!

Defending a ball towards the goal is a bloody stupid idea, but it's brilliantly executed.

Snapped yesterday at Bishops Stortford FC ahead of a Conference NORTH home game. I mean, nice club, nice people and all that but there's something (sorry; summat) wrong with a northern league game being overflown by planes departing from London's third airport.

Spurs are playing in the cup tonight. Redknapp's going in with 41221. That's not the formation, that's his cell number...

Allowed back to his hotel room a few hours later. Not THAT serious then. Typical shite reporting from the scum sun.

2 good bits of news for Harry Redknapp in one day. :D

Surely that's 3 bits? (caution - link is to BBC Sport website; sunglasses recommended)

I don't think the Cappello/ Redknapp stories (story?) will get that much attention on here.I haven't used this forum much lately but if I remember rightly most Deathlisters don't support Premiership teams and don't take all that much notice of England. It's mostly Championship, League 1,and even non-league supporters on here.

But if we find out that he resigned because of extreme ill-health and only has a few months to live.....

Exeter City have just signed defender Jonathan Fortune.

He used to play for Charlton and, at the time, their back four usually lined up as: Young, FIsh, Costa, Fortune. :D

Saturdays Ryman One South match Whyteleafe v Hythe was abandoned when the Referee was stung by a Bee. He suffered servere reaction and was treated by Whyteleafe medical until Ambulance was able to attend and carry on treatment before taking him to hospital.

Turned out the 1st ambulance didn't the correct drugs so he had to wait some 25 minutes for the 2nd ambulance. Both linesman went to hospital hence the P-P.

The FA Cup gets underway tomorrow...

I see we aren't eligible to win this year's FA Cup, but the Evo-Stik League One Div North should be a piece of piss. Come on Prescot Cables, Woodley Sports and Leigh Genesis, let's be avin ya.

It was, if you call winning the league by two goals after losing the final game while your rivals won 8-2 a piece of piss. Just six more promotions and we're in the Prem.

cityscarf.gif

First Division North

1. Chester 44 14 6 2 15 4 3 29 10 5 107 36 71 97

2. Skelmersdale 44 14 4 4 16 3 3 30 7 7 117 48 69 97

3. Chorley 44 14 3 5 11 8 3 25 11 8 87 43 44 86

4. Curzon Ashton 44 14 4 4 11 6 5 25 10 9 85 49 36 85

Evo-Stik Premier tucked away in front of 5,009, not bad for a seventh-tier match.

Aye, as a supporter of a team who've also slumped to slumming it and made the most of the ensuing hardship, respect to Chester. We got over 10,000 in the Conference for the second leg of the play-off at Brunton Park and won it on penalties. As tense a time as I've ever seen there.

Incidentally, the resignation of Steve Evans at Crawley makes Carlisle's Greg Abbott the tenth longest serving league manager in England and Wales. Significant if only because the last time I looked Carlisle have had more changes of management than any other senior club in England and Wales since the war.

Hope to see Chester in the Premier soon, we got there tonight and now Match of the Day is worth watching again and best of all, I don't have to watch the god-awful Football League show.

Come on you Royals!
