Feel this belongs both in the Welsh thread as well as the journalist thread.

Ex BBC political correspondent John Stevenson found dead aged 68 in Aberdare Wales along with another man.

Deaths thought to be unexplained rather than suspicious.

The exact circumstances and cause of death of BBC reporter John Stevenson and his partner will likely  remain forever a mystery according to a  delayed inquest.

After a recent discussion with a fellow DLer, I went on a wikihunt for Welsh Comedians and found these two comedians who seem to be old yet going strong. Wyn Calvin and Stan Stennett.

As it stands*, all Welsh born comedians who are remotely funny seem to have either moved in their infancies to the right side, sorry, east side of Offas Dyke or had public schooling in England. (Griff Rhys Jones, Dawn French, Paul Whitehouse, Keith Allen and Terry Jones for the benefit of BC Alum who it would appear adores lists). And yes, Rob Anton de Beke Brydon is absent for a reason. He is sh*t.

* from Wiki and my personal appraisal of the wiki list of Welsh comedians. There's nothing like some good old fashioned bias in a DL post

Wyn Calvin reportedly dead aged 96: https://nation.cymru/culture/one-of-wales-greatest-entertainers-wyn-calvn-has-died/

Edit: IMDB has him born in 1928: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1595694/ but the report above follows Wiki down the 1925 birth date.

Telegraph obit confirms he was born 28 Aug 1925 in Narberth, Pembrokeshire. Still fairly active in 2021 so I'm not shocked he wasn't picked in the DDP.

His death leaves Stanley Baxter as the last panto dame born during that era.

Not a panto "dame" as such but a stage regular and close friend of Stanley's... Una McLean is still about and just turned 92.

Possibly the one I was thinking of, it being a regular purchase as a child. I could also have confused them with Toploader.

Aw shame. For some, she's infamous for a somewhat dismissive interview with David Bowie, but she was altogether a very good broadcaster.
