Bill Clinton's Cat Socks

Recommended Posts

"....the black and white cat was dumped on Betty Currie, Bill Clinton's personal secretary, who also had an embarrassing clean-up role in the saga of his relationship with the intern Monica Lewinsky."

They didn't make poor Betty swab Bill's Map of Hawaii off the blue dress, did they?

She probably had to hang his cigars up to dry in the oval office airing cupboard.

Socks, the cat who lived with the Clintons in the White House, is suffering from cancer. :skull:

The goal is to get through the holidays (not sure that means New Year).

Is there a precedent for an animal on the DL? Socks would look good up there, preferable to Jade Goody who I suppose would set the precedent if she ever gets included.

Imagine all the fun it would cause among the anoraks if Socks died in the year. There'd be arguments about whether it could be called a real death and some would apportion a fractional value to Socks such as half-a-death for counting purposes. Then some would want an animal every year and there'd be lots of toy throwing. The debate would go on and on as it still does over "any one Beatle". Yes, Socks should make the list.

Socks would be a handy pick, what with losing nine lives an' all....

Precedent set in 1992, Red Rum. Continued by Pinochet, Demjanjuk, Amin etc.

I'm all for Socks being on the DL, particularly with the precedent of Red Rum, but would there be a UK obit?

I think there would be a UK obit.

It won't matter.

Which makes him Dead Socks. I wonder if one of the DL members can claim royalties.

I would if there was any money in it.
