Darts were much more than an accapella. I used to live in the next street from Horatio Hornblower and I took over his son's newspaper round.

William Hoy

Another British WW2 great who led a colourful post-conflict life. They're an increasingly scarce resouce, and all-the-more obitable as a result.

General Norman Schwarzkopf is storming out of here aged 78.
The Reaper must be anxious to fulfil his celebrity quota by years end or summat

Yeah but I'm starting to worry that 2013 won't measure up and might be a bit of a dud

Henri Strzelecki, the 'Henri' of the 'Henri Lloyd' clothing brand has died aged 87.

He was, apparently, the first man to use velcro in clothing.

I can't believe I'm the first to post this. I normally find someone else has beaten me to it:

Italian Nobel laureate Rita Levi-Montalcini dies aged 103

She might have been a good pick for 2013, but not now

They have, and in a couple of threads too..............

Hmmm, how reliable is this I wonder?

Actually, looking at that page again, it is perfectly obvious it's a hoax.

Technically died in 2012, but that thread is locked.

This should really be in the Dead of 2012 but that thread's locked.

Violet Philpott, creator of Zippy, died aged 90 back on December 14th.

This provides another excuse to post this for the benefit of new readers.
