Did anyone else have Patrick Macnee ?

He went to Eton, I'm guessing one or two of his teachers did.

Note, she died two days ago.

Corrected. As always if any low hanging fruit with local obits as yet unseen or just someone I've missed has died let me know.

Could the person who picked fashion designer Pierre Cardin please kick themselves, if you'd picked pastor Jean Pierre "Peter" Cardin, you'd have been - and very nearly were until I caught my mistake - awarded a decent haul from a may death through his obit in the Caledonian Herald.

My pick Egon Bahr is dead:

http://www.12newsnow.com/story/29839300/german-ostpolitik-pioneer-egon-bahr-dies-at-93

Fairly predictable since he was constantly in talk shows for the past 30 years, but stopped doing so mid-2014. He also looked old like dirt for a couple of years.

My pick Ingeburg Herz, matriarch of the Tchibo group, and one of Germany's richest people, is dead:

http://www.n-tv.de/wirtschaft/Ingeburg-Herz-ist-tot-article16083166.html(link in german)

She died on September 30th, but the news was only made public yesterday.

An english link here: http://worldarchy.com/died-tchibo-co-founder-ingeburg-herz-pioneer-of-the-republic/

It lovingly translates the german press release and even translates her family name "Herz" into "heart" - was it Google Translate?

The aim of this is pretty simple, to pick 25 celebrities who you think will see out most of 2014 and then kick the bucket in December, preferably December 31st 2014. The aim is to be the person with the most points on December 31st 2014, although finally tallies will continue to be amended in the case of new year reports of people who died before the years end until January 31st when the list will be frozen in time.

The Rules

  • All picks must be humans aged over 18 on January 1st 2014.
  • Death row prisoners only score if they die of other causes, those still on trial will still score points if executed,
  • Celebrities qualify if they achieve an obituary or article about their death in a local, national or even specialist newspaper. or website/magazine/paper. If in doubt cite your death note for approval.
  • Entries must be posted by 1600 on December 31st 2013, no exceptions except if a pick dies post-deadline, they may be replaced until 1200 on January 1st 2014 provided the replacement hasn't died between 0000-1200 on January 1st 2014.
  • Murdering your chosen "celebrities" is both against the rules and illegal.
  • Celebrities are disqualified if they are a celebrity because of their impending death.
  • All entries must be posted in this thread or PMed to me, they'll then be posted in this thread as one post.
Scoring

1 Point for each day of the year that passes before your celebs death (if they die on the 10th of January you are awarded 9 points for example).

250 point bonus if one of your "celebrities" dies on 31st December 2014 (i.e a 31st death will score 565 points)

Pick 1 of your celebrities as a wild card to double the points for that pick upon their death. (i.e if they die on the 9th you'll get 16 points)

500 point bonus if your entire list perish of this mortal coil in 2014.

I have no idea why I finished up reading this original post 22 months later, I think I was curious as to what the rules of this Dead Pool were.

Anyway line 2 of the scoring looks like it could cause arguments and I'm presuming that Dead Poolers take things pretty seriously so thought I would flag it up so Deathray can clarify.

If it is 250 bonus points for a 31st December death then I think that would be 614 or 615 points.

However if a 31st December death will score 565 points then it is only 200 bonus points.

Was looking at my 2015 picks and noticed

http://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/11873647.JAILED__Paedophile_former_mayor_may_die_in_prison/

Paedo Mayor Tim Price died in March

Where the hell is Paedo and who would want to live there?

Edit, oh now I get it.

Results for this year will be published on the 31st December to maintain suspense - that's a firm promise....

Also we've been open for entries for 355 days folks....

I have a team ready, will submit it after Christmas.

But maybe start a new thread for it? Too much slack means people forget.
