  1. It's the Dan Hodges equivalent of lefties who get conflicted over fancying Penny Mordant.

Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread

Anne Reid showed up at the BAFTAs yesterday as she was nominated for that crime miniseries. Looked great for someone nearly ninety. (Also future DLer imo.) I've no idea why the forum has quoted Biblio.

    The Simpsons

If they can recast the voice of Bugs Bunny they can recast the voice of Marge Simpson. But then that was the answer to the Apu dilemma. I've oft thought the way to end the show is to get rid of the floating timeline. Have Homer save the day in a huge way and end of episode one of the kids has their ninth or tenth birthday. And then we wrap up by following the rest of their lives. Could make a good final season.

    Doctor Who

Was going to say I thought the episodes were alright (fluff but harmless) but... I'm more interested in this shock revelation.

    The Simpsons

Recent episodes I've seen have been quite good actually. Not nineties Simpsons great but certainly better than a lot of modern TV. But the original cast are getting on and there should have been plans for that years ago.

    Curse Of The Eurovision

It was the same in 2006 as a friend used up my text credit left voting for We Are The Winners of Eurovision by iirc Lithuania repeatedly!

    Curse Of The Eurovision

It's that imminent nuclear war you know... Dunno why he thinks Israel would pull out either. They just got a massive vote of confidence from the public vote (including twelve points from the UK public).
  8. I remember the news broke when we were on a day out and there were adults crying their eyes out over his death. Hard to imagine that for a current politician. Closest in my time was a glass raised in the pub to Robin Cook. A glass raised in the pub in tribute to Charles Kennedy didn't feel appropriate given the circumstances!

  10. Yes, I know! Rural southern areas that think Labour is some form of witchcraft. Chalk is set to Defcon Fucked, as they say.
  11. Nobody was really talking about them last week, yet the Lib Dems took about 100 council seats off the Tories whereas Reform won...2. The Lib Dem vote actually went down in 1997 but they more than doubled their number of MPs because they laser focused on about 70 constituencies and won 46 of them. History often repeats, I find.

    Game of Thrones

Was in the last series of Father Brown in the pretty big role of Flambeaus dad. Second cast member from that episode of Fr Brown to die already and both were villains in Dr Who in the Moffat/Chibnall eras.
  13. When my in-laws start moaning about the election taking forever, you know you've lost the country.
  14. That Cecil Parkinson documentary @YoungWillzflagged up has brought up that Lord Sanderson of Bowden, then a Tory party big wig and who later wrote the report on why the Tories were doing shit in Scotland, is still alive aged 91. Retired from the Lords years ago.
