God: "come up and see me". -
Are you sure it’s not Stan Hayhurst, who won in 1958? He was interviewed on the BBC and looks similar, but then all old people look virtually identical don’t they.

She should be shot. I apologise for saying she should be shot. It was racist and wrong. It was a typo. I meant to say she should be hot. I apologise for saying she should be hot. It was racist, sexist, fat-and-ugly-shaming and wrong. My resignation letter will be on your desk tomorrow morning.

Thanks to our bassist and manager being bookers for him, we got to play at all of his London venues in the early 90s, but I don’t recall ever bumping into him. I always pictured him as a kind of JP McManus type rather than an Alan Sugar. -
I'm not in any way defending Williams, but I assume Wallinger would have received full songwriting royalties for a #1 single (presumably on an album too?). At least Alexa called him out

Much like his cover of Stephen Duffy’s ‘The Postcard’, another quite personal song that he did adequately but almost identically. Still, shows he has taste, and I’m sure it helped the writers’ bank balances.

Love the Raspberries, less keen on his solo stuff, but a talented guy indeed. And no, I've never seen Love Actually, obviously. It seems odd to me that he's being reported as 'guy who did those songs that sound like St Elmo's Fire from those romcoms"' when to me he's mainly 'singer/songwriter of the Raspberries', but then again I was surprised when Coltrane/Rickman/Gambon were billed as 'Harry Potter actor'. Edit: the other three from the classic line-up - Wally Bryson, Jim Bonfanti and Dave Smalley - all appear to be still on the vine (er, bush?) in their mid-70s (appropriately enough).

It’s Karl Power’s grandad.

I feel a tad slighted and aggrieved that I was never in the Fall.
-
Can’t be arsed to check for blue links or blue plaques, but I’m sure the Fall had over 60 people pass through the ranks before Mark gave them their marching orders. Some of them may have only been there for an afternoon or two, I expect.

I coveted a DF bat in my youth, but ended up buying (for reasons I don’t recall, but possibly financial) a Gunn & Moore. -
STILL NOT DEAD, relax Han. I had a bash at karaoke-singing The Elements (Tom's version, not Aristotle's), but cheated by doing it at a more leisurely pace. Seems almost impossible at Tom-speed, but I reckon I can get there. I wonder if rappers use it as practice.

Eh, Paddington was pretty rad but I can't say I know much about his other stuff and that. -
Mark Bradstock, who trained the 2015 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Coneygree (which I backed) has died aged 66. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/racing/2024/03/01/mark-bradstock-dead-gold-cup-racing-coneygree/
