Lamar Odom is fighting for his life after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel.

Apparently he had a drug overdose. Huge oversight not to include him on my Reality Show DDP theme team this year.

Let's hope he has it in him to last a few months. Made my points this year in similar fashion from Jules Bianchi....

Coach Flip Sanders is being treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma. I love it when a cancer patient gets all up in cancer's face 'it's very treatable and curable'. You shouldn't have dared cancer, Flip.

SC

Sir Creep warned you, but did you listen? Three weeks after announcing he has 'very treatable and curable' cancer, he is back in hospital after 'a setback'. I'd have to imagine the coach of an NBA team would obit but only y'all know that. One to NOW definitely keep an eye on!!!

Minneapolis Star Tribune journalist Jerry Zgoda suggests Saunders's recent silence means either a poor reaction to chemo or more cancer than originally thought, so indeed worth keeping an eye on.

Timberwolves front office makes it official that Saunders won't be back to coach this 2015-2016 season.

Definitely not coming back to coach, ever.

That was very quick! Really a statistical outlier. I just put him on my team last week, because one of his colleagues, when asked about Saunders' health reportedly started to cry. At 60, he was also relatively young... Some bodies just don't respond to treatment, I wonder if there is some kind of discernible reason to that.

I suppose cancer researchers want to know too. I haven't given their work much attention in the last few years, but I suppose in the future cancer treatment will be much more tailored to the patient.

Flip Saunders' death was a case of euthanasia, perhaps?

Luther Ticky Burden, a former NBA player (Knicks) and Winston-Salem resident, dies at 62.

Ahh but the best part is this paragraph: "He didnt hide from his past transgressions, but what he wanted kids to know was you can have a better life, said Gree Fagg, the vice president of operations of the Gateway YWCA."

What a moniker! Gree Fagg!

Could've gone in the Simpsons thread (if we had one).

He also called for the Albuquerque Isotopes.

Here's one of the most intriguing stories in a while. How mysterious!

Miami Heat guard Gerald Green has been hospitalized, according to the team, which released a statement that neither explains when Green checked in nor what ailment is affecting the player.

TMZ Sports, however, paints a more bizarre picture. According to witnesses, Green “was acting strange” and causing a “huge commotion” in his Miami condo building’s lobby when Miami Fire and Rescue arrived on Wednesday morning. TMZ’s sources said it took several people to restrain Green, including an unnamed teammate, who helped get Green on a stretcher and into an awaiting ambulance.

Again, we need a thread for coaches and management vs players IMHO.

Norm Ellenberger was head basketball coach at New Haven High School and parlayed that into head coaching at Univ of New Mexico, and even assistant coaching gigs with Bobby Knight and on the Chicago Bulls (NBA).

Dead at 83.

New Haven is about 50 miles from the Detroit area where I grew up.
