No surprise that Fabrice Muamba is done with football on doctors' advice.

Then again; whaddya reckon, a whip-round at the next DL Con to persuade him to play one final game for Fort William?

That couldn't hurt, could it?

Johhny Watters @ 92 http://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/local/all-news/ex-sunderland-physio-johnny-watters-dies-aged-92-1-4828312

Former Celtic player and was the last survivor from the New Years Day match in 1939 against Rangers which had a then record of 118,000 crowd (though the link states 130,000 - Sunderland rolleyes.gif ).

At least he outlived not just everybody else who played that day, but one of the teams as well.......

Welsh football is pretty near death international-wise and to complete a bad week for any Cardiff fan - Jimmy Andrews, their former manager, has died - http://www.walesonli...91466-31831438/

Also, Ron Tindall and Sergio Livingstone died the other day. Livingstone was one of Chile's greatest players, who then turned into their version of Brian Moore and commentated for years. He played in the 1950 World Cup in goal for them, but Chile ruined any tribute to him by losing to Colombia in their World Cup qualifiter.

Tindall is rightly a Chelsea and Portsmouth legend. He played for my team, Reading, but it is with mixed feelings we remember him by. Firstly, for choosing to play cricket instead of help us in a relegation fight and secondly for wanting to leave as he was going abroad to South Africa... and then promptly headed for the equally exotic Portsmouth.

When he DID play for us, he was damn good though, so RIP.

That was a bit unexpected...

Daily Star chief football writer and host of Sky Sports' Sunday Supplement Brian Woolnough has died of bowel cancer

That was a bit unexpected...

That's a real shame. What a really nice guy Brian was. Mrs Rotten is quite often a fan of the Sunday morning football talk shows and to my untrained ears Brian was always talking sense about "the beautiful game".

Sad loss.

Just to mention that Mark Halsey's cancer is in remission and he is back refereeing, so it looks like he won't score DDP points for anyone this year..

Hopefully it is contagious and it spreads to Lee Mason... :glare:

This might be a bit harsh, but there will be no tears shed from me should Mr. Halsey's cancer return, if today's "performance" is anything to go by... :shoot:
